Could Emma from Special Services please learn some basic manners when queue-jumping?

It was a slow wait to get through security in Zone R this lunchtime. Not that the queue was that long, it was just moving slooooowly.

Then, as I reached the BP checker, and about to take my shoes off for the scanner, up marched a big SS lady, with Liz Hurley + man in tow.

Ok, fine to take them to the front of the queue, but the way it was done, was like no-one else existed. Understandably (I suppose) VIP people spend their time avoiding "ordinary" people, but the SS lady?

I understand they have to keep the stars happy, but a simple "excuse me", or "sorry" or "do you mind?" or even "hello" to the person they were barging in front of (me) would have done. I think Emma H could do with learning a basic manners and courtesies to the regular customers of the company.

And can I just say how irritating LH was, with her constant "oh I look such a wreck" and "I just look like a housewife" (like housewives are supposed to look like wrecks?). The woman was wearing Versace sunglasses (yet oddly the sun wasn't shining inside T1) and wheeling Louis Vuitton luggage. AND she had two pieces of carry-on.

Somehow you expect VIPs to act badly. But BA Special Services should learn some manners. Or do they always act like this?

I think this might just be Emma H. Last time I saw them accompany someone from the CR (no idea who he was, certainly not a film star!) the SS lady simply walked him to the plane and chatted with the guy while they stood in the queue with the rest of us on the bridge. Personally I couldn't see the point of the SS escort if it didn't get him past the rest of us but better than the Liz approach I guess.

Err - since when has Liz Hurley been a VIP

Not good behaviour by the SS lady at all. Seems as though she had as much attitude as the so called VIP.

Exactly.

And lots of tutting from the people in the queue behind me, because IMO of the way it was done.

AND she had two bags.

I find this celeb thing irrelevant at best and Ms. Hurley is one of the more irrelevant members of this worthless club.

Why shouldn't she queue up with the rest in Zone R.

And this where she is headed. Has that picture been touched up, or has it been touched up?
Certainly didn't look that that this afternoon.

Indeed, it is this sort of behavior from special services that makes one wonder whether to remain loyal to BA or move to a more afible carrier. As for the "celeb" - I could not hold BA responsible for her dreadful behaviour and manner.

I would suggest a EMail of complaint to the SS manager as this sort of impolite behaviour should not be accepted.

Does LHR not have VIP facilities for checking in/clearing security/passport control etc? I am surprised that she cannot be "serviced" somewhere away from the scrum. Do all VIPs or PWTTAVIPs go through the normal security channels?

Assuming they do, then I think it is entirely appropriate that they be led "discretely" to the front of the queue. And I think it would be good practice and a simply courtesy to mutter an "excuse me" or something similar, to BA's most loyal customers, that possibly spend more money flying BA every year that she does.

May be spends more, but that's not the point. This is Britain. And when you queue jump, you mutter an embarrassed and apologetic "excuse me".

Mr Smirnoff, I think you've been spoiled a little too much for your own good - you'd enjoy the irony otherwise

Fast track, where available, should be good enough for them. I think it's crazy that "stars" are catered to like this...aren't they spoiled enough already? If the airport authority or whoever decides that there should be a separate security area--away from the stinking masses--where these people should go, fine.

I don't think SS offer that kind of special service

A lot do go through the regular channels, escorted by SS but major VIPs can go through the Royal Suite (LHR) or the Sussex Suite (LGW) and are then taken direct to aircraft.

Agreed - nothing whatsoever wrong with having good manners ^
