Unusual experience at GCI tonight

Passed through security into the departure lounge, and had been there just long enough to realise how small it is, before we had the following announcement: "All flights will be delayed by at least 45 minutes while we try to clear the light aircraft that just landed on two wheels from the runway." That's not something that happens everyday.

So I wander back to security and ask if I can go back landside. "We've been told to keep people airside unless there are special circumstances."

"What sort of special circumstances?" I ask.

"You're hungry," came the reply.

"I'm hungry," I said, and therefore managed to scoof a meal in the cafe.

Pretty special circumstances all round...

Emergency landing closes runway
The emergency landing of a plane forced the closure of the runway at Guernsey Airport.
The pilot of the locally-based light aircraft reported problems with its undercarriage on approach.

The aircraft reportedly touched down without its landing gear in place shortly after 1715 BST.

Airport officials said no-one was injured in the incident. The runway was closed for less than an hour and reopened at about 1800 BST.

My brother travels between JER and GCI quite a bit on those Aurigny Trislanders. As spottie referred to them; 'hear today, deaf tomorrow'

Did that very journey one dark pumpy windy night - all very cosy squashed down the back.Spent the short flight wondering how the hell I would get out in an emergency as it was a bit of an effort getting to my seat in the first place.
