Academic Administration dealing with European issues at a Midlands University and in addition an elected member of the City Council.
Work is flex Y shorthaul, J longhaul in theory. J shorthaul, Y longhaul in practice. Such is academentia.
As for the council, any hint that you aren't travelling on AirBankrupt in the Cargo Hold and you are on the front of the local rag as being a drain on the poor benighted council tax payers.

Run a research unit at a london university. 40 clients all over the world. Most research is applied and for industry.
If the uni is paying: Y, almost always, but can wangle WT+
If applied research/consultancy: Y in Europe, but can justify the odd Ģ118 extra for CE, WT+ or discounted J longhaul. So, Finnair and Iberia frequently come in handy! Justified on the grounds that I have to do two to four 16hour days whenever I get somewhere.
In fact, for a uni they are quite flexible, common sense rules.... but I think that's because industry is paying most of the time.
I have no facial hair other than eyebrows, thank you smirnoff .

I moved to London with my ex-beardie weirdie for his sabbatical year. This was back when I was a statusless, semi-frequent traveller, whereas he had Elite status with AC because of his academically-motivated long haul travel (mostly Y, but at least on AC you earn status with Y travel). I enjoyed the perks of his hard-earned status for a while, but then unfortunately, I had to break up with him (not the beardie part, but the weirdie part). I almost scored an op-up the first time I travelled back to Canada without him when I asked the check-in agent whether there were any sympathetic op-ups available for someone who had just broken up with an Elite. Alas, no J seat for me but I did get the exit seat.
Since then, I took on a job with a regulatory authority involving lots of international travel (usually in J) and then moved to an international organisation, where J travel opportunities have been rarer. In a few weeks, I'm moving back to North America and I fear that my new job will not involve very much travel at all. I'm pinning my hopes on Mr Canuck's future job (he's in IT) for airline and hotel points accumulation opportunities.

A banker fell overboard from my yacht.
I grabbed a life jacket, held it up, not knowing if he could swim, and shouted, "Can you float alone?"
"Obviously," he replied, "but this is a heck of a time to talk business."
