Hopping off at London advice please

Hi. So Im flying back short haul and meant to be connecting to Dublin. My wife isnt well and I (genuinely) would prefer to hop off at London and go and see her than try and arrange a quick flight straight back from Dublin. Its a through ticket jersey to London to Dublin. I only have hand luggage. Do I need to tell anyone or do I just walk away. Will that make the plane wait for me? Thanks for advice.

As you're hand baggage only you can just leave upon arrival in London. You could probably look at changing the date of your flight to Dublin if you still want to go there.

You won't hold the aircraft up, the Ready to Fly marker won't show for you until you go through security at LHR. However it is worth mentioning it since you may get a small refund of the airport charge. You can either call up, or pop up to departures after you emerge landside from JER. It may be more cost effective moving the DUB to another flight, it sometimes retains the greatest value overall, but it probably won't amount to much.
