Really hope the project runs on time and is finished in April.
Taking SWMBO on hols through TFW in May… REALLY don’t want to have to explain to her that we have to mix with the hoi polloi.

So I should get Gold status just in time (in February) not to be able to use the First Wing :-)
That said I'm more interested in trying that out in Terminal 3 with the lounges there than using the First Wing...

First check-in will remain open. For the 3-month closure, you then use South Fast Track, just like you did before the First Wing opened in 2017. I understand that First Wing eligible passengers will have a dedicated lane at South Fast Track.
There is no floor strengthening required in T5A to my knowledge, but there are additional works in First Wing beyond just the new x-ray machines. The entire lanes and other security equipment are being replaced.

I hear Virgin have a pretty nice lounge in T3…they even have QR codes that allow you to order food directly to your seat…

Normal (south) fast track is fine, it’s the route from there to the GF lounge that’s the problem (for those of us without CCR access).
Will probably make use of the north fast track + GC lounge combination during that time.

Even so, and I'm not shooting the messenger here, three months would seem excessive!

Would be interested to see why it would take so long and why a new look is required? New machines should be installed but a new look isn't required.
Safe guess that it will be over budget and late.

I don’t use it as often as most of you, but just flew out of there this week.. Of course I have always liked the quick security and direct drop in access to the lounge, but the reception area of the check in part could use a facelift and amenity upgrade… Hopefully that’s part of this and its more then new security machines..
