BA has updated its policy for those due to travel on 28 August and 29 August 2023
Any customers due to travel on Monday 28 August or Tuesday 29 August can move their flights free of charge to a later date, subject to availability. We are also rebooking customers onto alternative airlines where possible and have stood up additional colleagues in our call centres to assist our customers.

The latest update from NATS
Statement at 15:15 UK time, 28 August 2023
We have identified and remedied the technical issue affecting our flight planning system this morning. We are now working closely with airlines and airports to manage the flights affected as efficiently as possible. Our engineers will be carefully monitoring the systems performance as we return to normal operations.
The flight planning issue affected the systems ability to automatically process flight plans, meaning that flight plans had to be processed manually which cannot be done at the same volume, hence the requirement for traffic flow restrictions. Our priority is always to ensure that every flight in the UK remains safe and we are sincerely sorry for the disruption this is causing. Please contact your airline for information on how this may affect your flight.

Swanwick Flight Planning System failure - Bank Holiday Monday 28 August 2023
I'll put this as a separate thread since this goes far wider than Split.
Following from my recent post, Gold has been stood up at LHR, which hasn't happened for quite a few months.
"NATS has suffered a failure of their Flight Planning System and have stood up Contingency Regulations covering nearly all of the UK. As a result Slot delays are averaging 10 hours (ten times sixty minutes). NATS engineers are on site at Swanwick trying to resolve the situation. Community Call (this is for Heathrow managers) is stood up for 12 midday".
And just for the non Avgeeks (etc), NATS is the UK national air traffic service provider, who provide air traffic control services between, but not at, aerodromes. Their main bases are at Swanwick near Southampton and Prestwick by Glasgow, the latter for the north of UK and a chunk of the Atlantic, Swanwick looking after the London and South East area in particular.

The message on Eurocontrol has been updated with the bit in italics.
I don't think this is getting fixed very quickly, and every minute it isn't will cause more problems later on. I am fairly certain we will see a large number of cancellations coming through within the next few hours.
United Kingdom is experiencing a Flight Data Processing System failure.
Scottish and London FIRs are regulated at low rates with very high individual delays.
Currently there is no indication of when a solution for the failure will be available so no improvements for flights entering UK airspace are forseen in the near future.
Further information will be published when available.

We are at LGW F and indeed delayed until 02:49 tomorrow. Most taking it on the chin except for one (not so) fine lady having a speaker phone call to BA demanding half hourly updates.
LGW F closes at 20:30 but the staff has said there is overtime and they will stay later.
'Tis on the news as well!

We in NATS are embarrassed, but not surprised by this, management chose the option to get rid of many experienced staff, this sort of stuff will happen for a while I’m afraid,

Our Captain has said that they boarded, so they can then send a ready call so that the flight can be manually inputted into the system! It seems the 1482 to GLA is one of the few aircraft with a flight plan in the system so they are all very hopefully!
However, people want to offload themselves as the Captain said we may be waiting 5-6 hours - people not very happy as door closed and jetty removed!
