GGL for life. Why not at 70.000 TP?

I have 80,000 tier points. With current flying patterns, I will reach GGLfL in three years and I will be under 50 years of age. I do not see my flying reducing. I am highly incentivised by the published and unpublished benefits of GGLfL. I have personal control of the airlines that I choose to book and my flying patterns, and I am sure I will continue to be a commercially attractive customer to BA.

BA gets it right in my view. AF Platinum for life is after 10 years of Plat and that is ridiculously low so as a result the whole tier is dumbed down to be no better than BA Silver.
Making GGLfL or even GfL easier to achieve would start a similar dumbing down as the airline seeks to control costs and provide differentiated service. AA added Platinum Pro as an Emerald Tier and in my view that step has had its own impact on the erosion of what BA Gold used to be.

BA can't control what AA does with its own loyalty program.

Just to be very clear about CK treatment, it is absolutely not to be expected for normal run of the mill GGLs (i.e. CIV 97, which includes me) even when at stations having CK presence. If it happens then great, but it often doesn't. And to the extent something does happen it may be nothing more than someone at the gate on boarding thanking you for your loyalty.

This GGL and GfL has never had CK treatment in the US, or a car at LHR, or met at a plane by anyone. But I do receive the advertised perks of GGL and sometimes a little more leniency when things go wrong, and that I am perfectly happy with. If I get to 100k for GGLfL I will be more impressed on my longevity and ability still to fly rather than a CIV of 100 ;-)
