Amex to Avios Boost

I understand nobody has a crystal ball while I ask this but how often is the Amex to avois boost offered?

I know there was a 40% boost when you transferred Amex points to avois last year. I have a decent Amex balance and I’m looking to cancel the card trying to work out if I should wait.

cheers

I'm sure those are for US cardholders only?

What are you talking about?! There has NEVER been a UK 'Amex to Avios' bonus in the 11 years that I've been running Head for Points. My best guess is that it has been 15 years since the last one.

It's very simple. Amex wants you to cash out for gift cards and statement credit at 0.45p-0.5p per point. They are probably paying around 0.8p per Avios. Why on earth would they want to encourage you to transfer?

It wouldn't surprise me if Avios bonuses in the UK were actually banned under their deal with BA to run the BA Amex. After all, if you could get a regular bonus on transfers from Gold / Platinum then they'd look more attractive than the BA cards.

I got a good one with Chase last year...I just wish Citi was a BA partner, they give out points like candy! I guess I can transfer them to QR now and then over to BAEC.

Actually, and without sarcasm, I'm paid a lot of money to know what I'm talking about. In this particular case, the discounts and dates above are for US Amex Platinum cardholders. I took advantage of two of the 40% bonus opportunities though I do have to say that, in retrospect, that wasn't exactly the smartest thing to do in the world: our friends at AA have drastically reduced the availability of space for Avios points and so now, for me, they're a little hard to use. Still, I've gotten three trips out of the points so far, and I hope that there will be more to come. Sure, maybe.

AA is in the process of making all awards on AA metal fully "dynamic," i.e., no more Web Specials, MileSAAvers, or AAnytime awards. We do not yet know whether this will affect Avios redemptions on AA, and if so, whether it will be for the better or for the worse. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the replies. I thought I’d seen it somewhere last year but maybe it was just US.

Never mind, I’ll just transfer my points now then
:-)
