BA Cancellation - Downgrade.

Question for Flyertalk experts,

I had a BA flight from Ibiza to London in Business which was cancelled on the same day as the flight.
I was rerouted on Iberia on the same day, Ibiza to Madrid to London. First flight in economy, the second flight business.

Is there compensation for the first flight downgrade, and is it 30 or 50% compensation ???

Curious, thanks.

It's 30%, but pro-rata for the distance and also the airlines are entitled to the airport charges and government taxes for the flown sector. So typically the refund on something like this is quite small. More details in the main EC261 thread. Consequently it's sometimes better to ask Customer Relations not to process the reimbursement but instead to offer an Avios remedy. They sometimes agree to this, sometimes they don't.
