Why would a BA holiday ask for full payment?

Trying to book a BA holiday to the USA.

Flight plus 2 car hires departing December.

However it just asks me for full payment with no deposit.

It is as if it is a flight and not a holiday.

Is there anything that I am doing wrong?

I''m not an expert on this, but I think you need either a hotel to span the entire time away, or the car hire, but splitting it into 2 car hires probably breaks the end-to-end aspect of the package. Would it work if the car hire fill the duration away?

potentially however I don't really want to get off the flight having been drinking and then drive

might not go down so well with the US police!

Something tells me that in the distant past there was a thread on this (jerry a.laska is usually great at finding such things!), but I'm sure multiple car hires doesn't play ball with with ba.com when trying to book it as a 'holiday' (flight + car)

However I'm sure it will be bookable and to be able to pay a deposit by phone.

Book the car for the full trip. Stay the first night in an airport hotel and pick up the car the next day - never had an issue with this

Wouldn't they cancel the car hire for non arrival?

I’m guessing this doesn’t work for people who don’t want to lose a night of their holiday in an airport hotel.

Is there any benefit in booking multiple car hires through BAH anyway? Can you just add a car for one day then book the rest direct?

I booked an ex-Dub 'holiday' via LHR to LAX with one hotel night at Dublin the night before the trip and it let me pay the 300 euro deposit.

That sounds perfect for our planned trip to FL next year. Gets me the double Tier Points and I don't have to drive when tired / had a drink.

Per BA Holidays Terms and Conditions it says

5.1. When you make a booking we will either ask you to pay the price in full, or, if your booking meets certain criteria, we may offer you the option to pay a deposit.

I suspect that you are trying to book a holiday that departs in less than 90 days. I think you can only pay a deposit I'd you book further out.

I booked for KRK yesterday for end of Oct and it's a deposit, so not 3 months.

I had the same problem for a trip next year. Wanted to pick the car up the day after landing - pay in full. If I made the car hire the full term, £300 deposit (and the same price).

Decided that a call to Avis to say picking up a day later will be the easiest option.

But that’s not really much help to the OP other than empathy.

Does having flights on partners or code shares affect this? Just curious if all BA metal? Not sure what else
