This Times piece highlighted by the OP is a familiar tale, the content of which shares certain characteristics with posts frequently seen in FT over the years : some stuff comes across as perfectly valid ; some seems rather more dubious ; and some can perhaps be filed away as irrelevant.
On many levels, internet discussion fora / web-based blogs - whether of a ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ tone - are little different from the print & broadcast media. By which I mean, they are all (ŕ la Curate’s Egg) good in parts.
The lines between subjectivity and reality will forever be blurred, and each of us will, understandably, have our individual perspectives as to what we choose to believe, and / or to accept at face value.
As on so many occasions, Winston Churchill encapsulated the theme rather succinctly when he said “These, Gentlemen, are the opinions on which I base my facts”
In later times, a certain Arsčne Wenger, whose words carried somewhat less historical weight (but which nonetheless attracted a fair degree of sports media interest) would bring his own personal musing to the traditional beauty being-in-the-eye-of-the-beholder mantra with his intentionally sarcastic “Everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife at home” quip ☺️

I must admit my first through was "Gold? And checking luggage? And not thinking through the contact lens issue? Really?". I guess it's no different from the various why-oh-why posts we see here, other than that I would guess Ms. Buckley got Ł500 for her efforts. Plus EC261.
I'd write all the drivel they want for that sort of money.
TTmex my Lamb - I hope that you found another girlfriend that you do like btw - how many times over the 21 years here have I seen dramatic flounces out of the door. When I decide to leave - I shall say Au Revoir but not Adieu - I am still mostly entertained and instructed here in the Dark Arts.
I might add that nothing and no one will persuade me not to fly BA - least of all here. When they p me off sufficiently then I will take my custom elsewhere. When I want to bltch about some service failure, I do so to the airline rather than on here. Here, no one can do anything - the airline might. One thing that I have long learned here is that what we are told and what actually happened can be worlds apart. I know that I am a cynical old cow but I have not been married to a policeman for the last 35 years without learning a trick or two. My first rule is - did this actually happen? I used to ask people to send me details flights, dates so that I could make discrete inquiries - only one person in 15 years ever did. One particular individual who I will not name came back with the most tortuous reasons why he could or would not. Most never replied at all to me or to the thread. Anyhow, I may have a new career opening if they publish and I will be able to keep myself in tights and make-up. Low maintenance I may be, Cheap I am not.

When I broke up with a girlfriend years ago who I didn't like, I just finished it. Why do people need to write to a tabloid and complain? Just finish the relationship and get on with life. I'm tired of these articles bemoaning the situation and expecting ba to change. If I grew tired of my wife, I'd just try a different option. Perhaps life with them would be easier, excuse the pun.
PS becks1 seems to like this so you have options.
I think BA "need" this bad press personally (as tabloidy as it is), BA dont seem to respond to feedback via the normal channels etc...

Hmmm so youre comparing your girlfriend and wife with BA? Do all the women in your life charge your for a ride? If so you should probably write to the papers too.

Have had some bad experiences lately with luggage, delays getting onto stand etc. Said I’d give BA one more chance. Did a return to FCO over the first few days. No queues and effective fast track at both airports. F lounge and (especially) FCO lounge excellent. Flight change onto an earlier flight which I had no right to ask for made efficiently and with great humour in the F lounge at LHR. Efficient boarding. Great crews with discreet, friendly welcome for Golds in Economy and offers of teas/coffees/snacks. Both 319s in good condition. On time arrivals and no passport queues. I literally couldn’t fault it (OK we had a go-around at FCO but better safe than sorry). Just goes to show the difference one good trip can make and every BA employee I interacted with on the ground or in the air was an absolute credit to the airline.

}That said, being a frequent Leisure traveller, I'm usually not one to get particularly stressed out by delays or cancellations.
To be fair though, the entire industry are suffering the perfect storm of Easter Holidays, a new wave of COVID and demand coming back way faster than most would have predicted even 3 months ago.
O'LaryAir on the other hand, we swore 4 years back to never set foot on one of their cattle trucks again, and never have. They left us sweltering on the stand for an hour and a half on a stinking hot day with no aircon { O'LaryAir money saving policy it seems } & wouldn't even let us buy water .

On occasion my Husband said after lunching at my Sister Rich Bltch that she is clearly out to poison him with what passes as Haute Cuisine under her roof. Could one call that a Toxic Relationship?
