The way things are going, we may end up deciding to do 1 bag by Airportr and 1 bag at the airport in order to maximize chances of at least one of them being loaded!
ive always had positive experiences with airportr and personally would not hesitate using them. i wish i could this weekend as i got the notice i can...for my MAD-LHR-SFO flight lol.

if i were starting in london i would since its free this weekend--but anytime i use them i always ensure i have what i need for just one night since any screw up would almost assuredly be down to BA alone.

Seeing as we were already considering AirPortr it was too good to turn down!
I'm seeing cancellations made this afternoon for the 7th and 8th - new added in bold on routes I'm following. Hopefully there will be no further cuts to the Friday schedule, my flight is still operating but hopes of a FCOD to get home earlier are dwindling.

I doubt it makes any difference at all. Once they’re tagged and injected into the baggage system they’ll be treated the same as any others. Most bags are automatically redirected to a new flight if one is assigned while they’re in the system, it’s only once they’ve been removed that it’s ever really a problem.

Indeed, and I believe BA MC had a little party yesterday morning as the news started including other airlines and taking some of the focus away from their shambolic mess.

Our flight to US is also Saturday and we have arranged collection for Friday evening. Have had similar thoughts to you. Will make final decision Thursday morning whether to cancel or to only include one bag. However whatever we decide, we will ensure that we have change of clothes etc in hand baggage as we’re on a road trip and fear if bags get delayed we won’t see them again until we check in at the airport for our return flight!

Planning for potential pain... assuming my flight gets cancelled before I get to the airport, what's my best option to rebook? Just keep calling BA until my phone melts?

I know re-bookings can be done online, but this is a redemption (2-4-1) ticket, and I've often had trouble rebooking them via the website.

Yes, calling or twitter if it gets cancelled before you get to the airport. Online is preferably if you can get it to work.

T5 this morning I can see BA832 DUB, BA902 FRA, BA990 BER, BA590 MXP, BA416 LUX and BA392 BRU all showing as cancelled on the monitor. I feel lucky that my flight is going as planned.

On the positive side, it seems that lower RBDs have been opened up to and including Friday 8th (checked for CDG and EDI).

Previously everything was restricted to J2 Y9, presumably to allow for rebooking but discourage new purchases. I'm now seeing availability down to M on EDI and N on CDG up to Friday 8th. There is even some S and G in there.

To me, this means they're now less concerned about gross passenger numbers and more about overall aircraft movements. If crew are the limiting factor this makes sense, and should maximise revenue.

Out of general interest, where are people looking to see this weekend's cancelled flights?

New cancellations (made at some point after 2130 BST 5th April, and before 1800 6th April) in bold below. At least they seem to now be making cuts around 3 days out, which will make rebooking easier than cancelling on the day or the day before.

BHD - all scheduled, BA1423/07APR cancelled OPER at 1409 5th April
MAN - one cancellation 5th OPER, BA1399/06APR cancelled OPEY at 0403 5th April, BA1375/09APR

I've written down the details on 7 direct options the day after my flight. Should hopefully save some time if things go sideways.

HI all, if my flight is cancelled within 7 days of departure with the alternative making me arrive over 3 hours after my original arrival time, I believe I can claim a compensation. I was wondering does accepting an alternative flight cancel out that right to compensation? TIA.

Additional cancellations, thought to be made between 1800 6th April and 1100 7th April in bold below. It remains to be seen whether this is the final round of weekend cuts, or BA will still find themselves short of personnel on the days in question.

Thanks for the updates. Are these changes on just the S/H routes you're following, or all cancellations for BA ex-LHR that are currently published?
