The BA Source [thebasource.com] to close 30th June 2021
Just visited the site and saw this message:
We’ve had a good run but the BA Source will be closing on 30th June.
Historic tracker pages will be disabled from 25th June.
In July the site will be taken to St Athan for part out and scrap.
Thank you to everybody who has visited, contributed news, sponsored an aircraft and especially those who donated in December 2020 to enable us to continue for as long as possible in 2021.
A real shame.

This is awfully sad. I have used it for years and it has provided the most reliable seat maps (beyond FT).
I wonder if there’s demand for a replacement, because I would be happy to run something similar-ish if people found it useful.

This is sad news.
After Airlineroute which stopped posting schedule updates and useful information since Fall 2020 and the BA source ( + other subsidiaries ), this is a really bad sign that these websites are probably not making profit anymore.

Based on the last sentence of the statement, I would guess it is money.
I agree that seatmaos are more than adequately covered by aeroLOPA,. I enjoy the newsfeed items and route trackers, though the latter could arguably be retrieved with a paid sub to FR24.
I believe another user on here created something similar recording current fleet location and history.

The guy that used to run the schedule updates is back on - but only on Twitter.

For this particular requirement, my colleague Prospero’s aeroLOPA project might well be of help.

I guess I could do things like destinations, news, aircraft - but I’ll see. Maybe there isn’t demand for it and maybe people just aren’t interested anymore.

I've sponsored delta kilo on BA Source for a couple of years, was offered free this year because of the pandemic so could well be money issues
