AVIOS SALE! 50% off long haul redemptions, 25% off short haul

Heads up, before the emails go out, that BA has just launched a massive Avios sale.

50% off ALL long haul routes, in all classes. 25% off short haul.

Travel by the end of June 2021. Full taxes and charges due (of course!). BA metal only. One-way or return flights are OK. Book by 13th October.

The big snag is that you can't use a BA Amex 241 voucher with this, although you could rebook existing 241 voucher bookings to free up a voucher to use in the future. It turns that you can, despite the small print, use a 241 voucher. I'm not sure about Lloyds vouchers.

There is a real incentive to rebook existing bookings to free up a big chunk of Avios .....

Full details here with analysis (my site) https://www.headforpoints.com/2020/1...avios-flights/ and the ba.com landing page is here https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb...d-flight-offer

Isnt the biggest snag all the closed borders? USA, Canada and most of Asia are currently off limits to mention a few.

This DOES work with a 241 voucher. Not sure if that is the plan (BA told me it wouldn't) but you can book .....

June is a long way away, for those willing to gamble on paying the 35 cancellation fee.

Kinda annoying that I have a return F flight using Avios and now can't cancel and rebook it due to availability.

If only I could go to the places I want to go. Or want to go to the places I can go to.

So I currently have a long haul WT+ booking. I could now go in CW for slightly fewer Avios and slightly more cash. That's a no-brainer. Any thoughts on whether I could do this as a "change" in one go over the phone or am I looking at two bookings and then cancelling the first?

No, it's working fine. Are you using the date range (i.e. before end of June 2021?)

Great just managed to snag LHR-HKG return out in F and return in J for 88.5k avios. Next June so fingers crossed some normality by then, but hey it will only be 35 cancellation fee.

I am guessing this offer cannot be used with a Lloyds voucher, since the discounted Avios rates are not showing up when doing a dummy booking on avios.com. Anyone can confirm otherwise?

Excellent news. Does anyone know if GUFs can be used with this offer? I didn't see anything in the T&Cs that excludes this.
