Just landed into LHR on IB3166. Had to hold for 30ish minutes but the approach wasn’t overly bumpy at all... had worse from weather that wasn’t named.

LGW seems to be having more go-arounds than LHR, atm. BA 2891 (INN-LGW) now heading back to Europe after 2 go-arounds.

That has ended up at CDG, I'm surprised they didn't try NCL or EDI which aren't too windy at the moment.

Another thing that has happened is that LGW's services from the Canaries are having to stop in Spain/Portugal - I'm guessing for refuelling purposes. So the Tenerife Sur TFS-LGW service is stopping over in Bilbao, and the ACE Lanzarote service is similarly going via Porto.

EDIT: BA2601 from LPA to LGW is diverted to CGN (Cologne).

The go-arounds are continuing at LGW and the TFS service is being night stopped at Bilbao until Sunday morning, so I don't think things are getting any easier over there. There's a Ryanair service that has had one go around and about 8 loops of the holding pattern.

LHR will probably be OK at this point and things like crew and aircraft should be in position. AMS, as you indicate, has potential issues of its own. Personally I'd stick to the flight and not use the train, I'm ok to take on a bit of risk, and different people calibrate risk differently. My plan B would be either BRU or DUS plus train from there, if absolutely necessary, but probably the worst that would happen is being delayed into Schiphol. But as I say, no perfect answer, and perhaps other followers of this thread could also give their opinion. The train would be less likely to disruption, it has to be said.
My view here would be check in the AM, if things don't look too bad then I'd go with plan A. If things look dodgy, or like they're getting worse I'd see about refund options and go from there, if it looks bad or likely to get bad I'd bail for the train regardless.

The direct Eurostar to AMS tomorrow is booked pretty solid. The last train of the day (connects to Thalys) is less booked. Fares are approaching the full-flex fare in any class on alll trains, so if you think you might have to travel by train then I suggest you book a Business Premier now and then refund if it you don't need it. Make sure you refund a Eurostar to the Netherlands before departure. Unlike other Eurostar Business Premier tickets, those can't be refunded after departure if you do not travel.

Cancelations on Sunday too

Hello everybody, and apologies if this isn't the right thread for this question. As it turns out, flights are disrupted on Sunday, too, because of Dennis!

My flight BA1447 EDI to LHR on Sunday 16th has been canceled. I didn't receive an email or text, I just happened to look at the app (around 11pm on Saturday) which said my flight had been canceled. I managed to book onto BA8717 to LCY on the website (the app wasn't working), but I cannot check in online and I haven't received an email confirmation of the change either. Does this mean that I am unticketed and there's a chance I will not be able to board the aircraft? I can't contact BA because their phone number only works until 8pm. Anything I can do? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you all very much! (Please move this to a different thread if it's in the wrong place.)

The flight isn't until Sunday afternoon, so I'd just leave it for now. It may be the ticketing will happen overnight anyway, if not call BA on Sunday morning. If they are busy then I'd be reasonably confident that if you go to EDI they will be able to sort you out there.

We arrived safely back to LGW around 23:15, and it was a very lively landing. The approach was very rocky/unstable and relative to the terminal buildings we seemed a long way down the runway when we touched down. That may have just been my perception though (as an infrequent Gatwick user) as there was still a long way to the end of the runway after some heavy braking. Not an experience I’m in a hurry to repeat!

There are new Customer Guidelines issued, Storm Dennis Update 2, they actually came out yesterday afternoon.

If travelling today Sunday, on tickets issued on or before Friday, you can now rebook your travel until and including Wednesday. What seems to be in scope is rebooking within today, so if you have a lunchtime flight you can go later today, from my reading of the Guidelines. This is for flights still operating, the Standard Customer Guidelines apply if your flight is cancelled, see wiki.

Of course, I’m on the AMS rotation the evening that has taken a delay... Is Flow Forward still in effect? If so then will try my luck.
