A380 WT+ Bassinet Seats Released

Ok... I know it has been discussed before, but I am absolutely dumbfounded if I can find it using searches... However, I have been through 13 time zones in the last 4 days and am slightly worse for the ware for it all, so it might just be that.

I am in WT+ JNB to LHR and have 61B, 61A is showing available but I can't select it because of the infant thing. When am I able to select it? Or do I have to call them?

Thanks.

It's at 72 hours when you can call up, sometimes the agent can't do it then so you need to call say at 48 hours. It may become available at OLCI. Nothing here is guaranteed, if an agent cannot shift you then that's it, really. If you have status (Silver plus) then have a look at the Theoretical Seating thread in the Dashboard to see how you can select the seat next to the bassinet at T-72.

There isn't anything special about WTP, further background in the following threads among many others.

When to call for bassinet CW seats

Bassinet on WT on 789

when are bassinet seats released?

I was in the aisle (non-bassinet seat) in WTP and within 72 hours I called up and I was able to be moved to the window (bassinet seat) in the hope that my wife (silver) would be able to select the aisle seat I was previously in - this however become blocked once I moved, presumably TS kicked in. They were unable to move my wife until within 24 hours, although she was unable to do this herself online and had to call and then the call centre had to call the airport to get her placed in the seat next to me.

So if within 72 hours, you should be able to call up and get placed in the bassinet seat.

Well, pointless now as they have been allocated to others.

Call centre still just cutting off callers.

It's a fairly kiddie heavy route right? So I'd have thought reasonable chance it's allocated to parties with nippers.

Never remember it being particularly child heavy route... But, maybe.

I think in the winter it sees a reasonable amount of traffic that's ultimately destined for CPT (ie where the direct routing is full).

We certainly ended up doing it that way in order to have even a vague chance of reward availability.

However this is my one and only datapoint so I am quite prepared to be told otherwise ;-)

Just to finish this one off... Not a single infant in any of the bassinet seats on the flight.

All a bit odd and annoying.

Hey ho...

It can be a bit of a mystery why but quite a few times after I have checked in but NOT printing or downloading my BP I have managed to secure 61K. Not available to agents at T-72 but I did however have the 'luxury' of dozens of times refreshing at OLCI and IIRC at approximately T17, T12 and T-5 hours...….Bingo!

I suspect it may have been nabbed this way so it may have been a case of fasters fingers first. Of course theoretical seating may also have played a part. Gold in 61B or J has the seat blocked but as the flight fills up then it's released to check someone in.

61A and K are plum seats, hope you are maybe luckier next time BingBongBoy.

BBB - Agree, this is one of those really odd BA things. I do a lot of DXB 772 flights and select the aisle bulkhead in WTP then at T-72 as C-W-S suggests I ring the Gold line and ask for a request for the window Bassinet. Sometimes it works other times zip. You board and as you say no infants and some random, mostly non status pax has been given the seat.
