Well... Will be an expensive one for the ground handler at LBA if it proves to be something they caused.

This morning (Sunday) some ground crew was still in the middle of replacing the wheels of the aircraft.
Seems it takes some time.

EU261 Compensation Now Received

EU261 Compensation claim update on this flight ... I put the €250 claim in online on 12 July, the date of the cancelled flight and got an automated email reply with the claim reference number (note to self and others: make a screenshot or copy and paste of what you wrote on the form as you don't get a copy once you press submit). I hadn't heard a thing after 30 days so tried calling and was advised by the phone system "too busy, if you have a reference number already we will get to you, please call another time" and then disconnected. After more than 8 weeks I thought I would have another go before going down the CEDR route. I eventually got through to a "corporate booking changes agent" by selecting some random options and he was very helpful by calling me back and placing me on hold on my speakerphone while he waited 50 minutes to get through to Customer Services who could deal with the query. Once I was connected, the agent was pretty quick in reviewing and calculating and settling the claim there and then. No arguments, done in about 7 minutes. Money should hit my account in 5-7 days apparently. €250 = £225 = FX Rate of 1.11 which is OK. Hopefully this is of use to some other FTers and anyone who was on this cancelled flight.

Any reason offered for why they had chosen to ignore you thus far?

BA stating that no EU261 is due because "if it outside Yorkshire, it's not worth bloody seeing"

No, I just assume they were busy and it was in a queue. The only extra bit of info she wanted was the ETD and ETA of the LBA-DUB flight that I took the following day as part of my alternate trip to the USA. Not sure what relevance it had as it wasn’t a BA flight, probably something to do with calculating the ultimate delay I experienced.
