Dear

We're looking forward to welcoming you on board your flight with us from London Heathrow to Glasgow on 25 August.

We wanted to let you know that we'll be making a change to the aircraft operating your flight. Your flight will no longer be operated by a Boeing 747.

We understand that, after speculation on aviation websites, some of our customers booked on BA1482 hoping to be part of our birthday celebration. We’ll happily offer a full refund to anyone who no longer wishes to travel.

You'll be able to view the timing changes to your flight at ba.com/mmb in the next 24 hours.

If you would like to make a change to your booking, please contact us.

If you booked through a travel agent, please contact them to make any changes.
On Sunday 25 Aug - the day of BAs 100th birthday - BA are operating these domestic rotations with 747s, reportedly the three heritage-liveried aircraft :

You may need to call up due to BA.com limitations on short transfers, but in terms of B2B, there is never ever going to be a 25 minute turnaround of a jumbo so separate tickets to GLA and NCL is not much of a risk. Nor MAN, I would hope.......

Oh thanks for that! I was ideally looking to stay 1 night but I guess that’ll increase the price too much. Do you think it’s best to book now or wait a bit longer?

I imagine they will be on remote stands at those three so bussed to the terminal and going landside may be the only option. However turnarounds are 1.5 hrs or a bit more so should be plenty of time to go back through security and to the gate.

Also on arrival at T5 passengers would be bussed from whatever stand they end up on to domestic arrivals at the north end of T5A.

I guess the domestic 747s will have to board by bus from T5 so A4 sub gate or A10A. I imagine the latter since the A4 sub gates are not very big and there isn't enough space for a 747's worth of passengers. There are no biometric contact gates big enough for a 747.

So for maximum 747 mileage, and a longer champagne brunch in the lounge while you watch the other 2 go, the best one is GLA.

At risk of spoon-feeding the masses, it looks a bit like this to me:-

0920 BA1326 LHR-NCL 1035
Stop 2:05, MCT 0:30
1240 BA1327 NCL-LHR 1400

1010 BA1386 LHR-MAN 1120
Stop 1:30, MCT 0:30
1250 BA1391 MAN-LHR 1400

1200 BA1486 LHR-GLA 1330
Stop 1:30, MCT 1:00
1500 BA1487 GLA-LHR 1625

Now inserted into the wikipost too.

Booked on the GLA flights - there were still a few redemptions available on the 1500 in J as of about 10 minutes ago.

Good! This is the best way to board a 747, leaving aside jokes about the retro experience.

For same day, if you see anything under £100 all in I would take it; for next day, consider going back via LGW or LCY and £120 would be a good price. I doubt they have filled 6 jumbos in an hour, equally I have no doubts in BA's IT melting down under the strain. Remember you can do a fully refunded cancel in the first 24 hours after purchase, so you can buy something today and then have another look early tomorrow.

On a more serious note, I think I'll pass sadly. J is overpriced and I missed the Award seats.
