And there's also a tunnel under the river - but it would be a pretty scary flight if you saw that!

Firth Of Forth - The Bridges December 2018


I was lucky with a break in the cloud to take this photo with my phone ( in flight mode). Heading South on KLM from Inverness.

You will note HMS Prince Of Wales in the basin of Roysth dock yard with her forward part of her flight deck covered up.

Also you'll see part of Edinburgh Airport, with it's runway, mid way up on the left side of the photo.

The last time I was in Roysth dock yard was when I served on HMS Illustrious. A tug boat in relative size to the QE class of carrier.

It could well be the second bridge over the Forth, if you consider Old Stirling Bridge, in Stirling to be the first over the Forth ;-)
