Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Click here to access that thread.

Please remember to:
  • Convert currencies to GBP, rounding to the nearest pound.
  • Post full routes and full booking classes.
  • Note any restrictions on booking in the Notes section.
  • List in order of price per tier point within the relevant departure area.

Please see the links at the bottom of the wiki for archives of runs from previous years.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Interesting routing, didn't try BA, but on ITA the fare seems to have gone. £2.145 is the grim reality now, until mid November.

Next points year I doubt I'll be making much more than the Gold threshold, thus pushing for the GUF now rather than chasing 2500TPs later on is maybe the most cost-effective way...
The present sale has good prices for some SH+ destinations, combine with a start at any domestic/close ex-EU and ending in LON, and you're there. Look upthread for a list in a post by @KARFA

For starters, apologies if I'm breaking any rules. I am trying to fit my first tier point run with a few constraints, and having read as much as I could process (and tried Matrix), I'm still none the wiser.

Can I ask for help from the more experienced?

I need to leave from London after 5pm on Thursday, 13th June.
I need to be in Boston, MA by 1pm Friday, 14th June.
I can leave from Boston from 5pm Sunday, 16th June
And I need to be in London by 9pm Tuesday, 18th June.

Any ideas would be hugely appreciated. I'm hoping not to spend more than £2k but would be happy go a little over if it's a really good deal on the tier points. I've not been able to find anything for less than £10/TP

Thanks for any and all help.

German cities to Vancouver - ~£1272 for 640 TPs, just under £2/TP. Fare basis IQX5T1S6, very wide open, but be quick as this won't last.

In addition to the SH+ as suggested by others, there is LHR-OSL via HEL return on AY for around £500. This will give 240 TPs. No minimum stay required but realistically an overnight in HEL is needed.

As AY's TPs take 5 days to post, better complete the trip by 31 March.

To be fair these are not TP run parameters, this is find flights that meet very tight schedules. You're essentially wanting a flight late evening to be in Boston by lunchtime the following day. So you're immediately constrained by which destinations have flights after 5PM, and I don't think it's too many. Boston is probably the shortest Transatlantic, so anything TP driven is going to be artificial. At best I'd guess you're looking at another east coast city, think JFK, PHL, IAD, and then onto Boston, coming home much the same. The problem I think you may have is that IAD and JFK are likely to have onward flights from LGA and DCA, so you'd have to overnight in New York or Washington on the 13th, and take an early flight to Boston on the 14th. I think you'll be lucky to get 360TP (140+40+40+140) out of this, you need a bit more flexibility to think in TP terms. I don't know if the price would work but you could try for the journey home when you have more time something like BOS-JFK-HEL-LHR to extend the TPs. Even if you left on the earliest JFK flight on the 14th I don't think you could get to Boston by 1PM.

Your best bet is to get on google flight and Matrix and see what you can construct, if you find something but then need help tailoring it I'm sure you'll get help. You're always likely to get more help if you list what you've found, and why it's not quite right.

I was just looking at the Munich to Vancouver route at work and working out how i fit it in and me and my colleagues were called in to a meeting room and our team is ceasing to exist! Got to find a new job but on the upside we can just go home and we will be paid as normal for the next month and hopefully a redundancy package but will see how the HR chat goes.

With that in mind and with all the boring stuff on the news, I just need to get out of the country for a few days so can anyone recommend a TP run i could do for say 4 or 5 days leaving friday? Not too bothered where just want to get away. Sittign on a few planes sipping champagne seems like the right thing to do at the moment! There will be plenty of jobs when i get back!!

Started looking already but struggling to see availability on the usual routes. Going to continue to see if I can wrangle something through the US. Ill let you know what I find.

By the way, the Germany -> Canada fares work to other cities than vancouver, can be routed with BA1/2 with no surcharge, and can be routed through HEL once (but not twice, sadly). For example TXL-YUL return, optimised to 680TP with BA1/2 is ~1320 GBP.

Good run, but afraid that you won't get to NYC in time to be in the midst of it all on Times Square. For that you need to be there before noon on the 31st, or alternatively, buy a ticket for a party in one of the restaurants on the square.
My recommendation is to go to Central Park, Sheep Meadow. There are fireworks there, plus the start of a fancy dress run at midnight, and an open air disco to keep you warm (it can be so cold!).

have fun.

Best sort of deal I can find in the next week or so. Not brilliant. going to play about with adding more stops and see what it throws up.

I'm checking the tier points on the BA site and it tells me there are 0 points between JFK and YVR. Why is that? Ignore me. I've seen the error of my ways
