Ok, so if I understand correctly, for a one-hour flight UIP-LCY, which I'm paying using Avios, if I get the OpUp for £69 per person, I get:
Cold dinner (flight at 6pm)
no lounge
2 bags (already have as a silver)
Priority boarding (flying with a 2 y.o., kid I'm in priority boarding anyways)
No extra TP (since this is an Avios booking)
No middle seat

So that's 69 quid for a "meal"? :-)

That is a POUG, not an OpUp, but yes!

That's interesting. So if you pay cash for an App Ugrade, you still don't get TPs??

You only get TPs when the underlying ticket was purchased with cash (and then you would get the 40TPs instead of the ET TPs for whichever booking class your ticket is).

From Pro-active Online Upgrade (POUG) tracking and discussion | 2019 thread
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.

Manchester to Mykonos. 3hrs 45 flight. This is one of the BA CityFlyer summer routes and the crew was excellent, proactively offering drinks throughout the flight.

I barely noticed at the time, and it didn't bother us (otherwise I would have asked). But seeing the menu that we ought to have had jogged my memory.

Menus are now only provided for band 3 and 4 flights. Outbound from LCY hot meals are pre-loaded in the oven by the caterers and outbound meals are loaded in a trolley, so potentially if all mains were the curry then it sounds like a catering error or shortage.

Thanks! We should definitely have been given a menu, then. I have a suspicion that the CC didn't hand them out to avert the complaints that would follow if all she actually had to offer was the curry.

I fly LCY band 3 routes fairly regularly, and while I don’t keep count, would say menu hit rate is below 50% of flights. Are they printed for every flight, and if so, what happens to them? Never seen only one choice available though, at least not in first couple of rows.

They are supposed to be loaded for all relevant flights but this doesn’t always happen, or they’re loaded somewhere utterly bizarre and the CSM can’t find them 😄

Euro traveller band 3 cold meal coming back from split last night. Perfectly acceptable snack, but don’t rely on it if you’re hungry. This was the jerk chicken. I also got brought two packs of crisps to accompany my g&ts after the bar round was complete. No one else seemed to get this, not sure if It was because I was the only silver out of the 40 people on the flight.

There’s almost always loads of the meals left over so don’t be afraid to ask for seconds 😊
