How about ATH with a visit to the really cool abandoned Helleniki Airport? Was there two weeks ago and it was fantastic!!

There are some really great deals to Beirut too - £269 some dates and with some price promise magic you can knock £50 off that. And it's a brilliant place to go, sun, good food, things to see, and I'm told great nightlife.

BEY is on the list. Some good deals in J as well.
Palestinian food is better if shared amongst a large group.
I think they have lifted the electronics ban now?

Yes, but you get a free checked bag on the way back I think, even in basic economy. Books into N so can be UuA.

For first timers, the Alternative Beirut Tour is by far and away the best tour I've ever been on anywhere. Brilliant guy doing it, and he doesn't skirt the bad stuff. There is someone going out 22-24 Nov by the way, which works OK for dates and has a decent Travelup fare for price promise matching.

In a random quirk of fate, The last time I ate Palestinian was in a restaurant near Bletchly Park.

I like the sound of Beirut, I've never been and heard many good things recently.

It looks like BA492 landed at GIB on the second attempt this morning. High winds continue.

I'm off to BEY for Easter, as it's always been my must-see list. According to HeadForPoints chap, Do&Co taken over the catering, so better meal onboard as well as chance to fly in the lovely A321 mid-haul!

Completely agree with the positive remarks about Beirut! I was fortunate to go with @bisonrav last year and we had a blast. Intriguing history, fantastic food and drink, friendly people, sunshine and sea. I can't wait to go back to Lebanon. I'd also love to join on the next FT mini-do. I missed out on GIB and PHX - so hopefully third time lucky!

If encouragement is needed for somewhere less windy than GIB, the second flight there from LHR today diverted to AGP after a couple of attempts at landing.

Any talk of doing this again in 2020?

Some great sale fares at £52 at the moment for Jan/Feb

There are no specific plans, but there are other DOs planned in the near future. There are some threads already on here.
