Question Any good ex-EU fares to HKG out there at the moment?

Hello all,

It’s a while since I’ve done an ex-EU and I no longer have a feel for where good J fares to Asia are now to be found. I need to go to HKG at relatively short notice (20-23/24 April) and was wondering whether any of you kind people might be able to turn up a decent fare. My travel agent is currently quoting £2200 on TK which is pretty good, but in an ideal world I would prefer to go OW if possible.

I am based in JER, but happy to consider any reasonable starting point. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much,

jmd

I haven't done a comprehensive search, but I suspect that this may prove to be a problem because the AP restrictions on the cheapest BA fares now tend to bite at 60 days and 28 days, and you're inside both of those.

Just for fun, I had a look at ex-JER fares - and there are some cheap ones that have a 21d AP and appear to be valid for your dates. But then they hit the other problem with booking at short notice: no availability for your dates.

So you're probably going to have to be looking at more exotic options.

I booked to PVG and the cheapest options were AMS and TXL for BA metal, but this was over 60 days out.

You may be able to build something around the Sri Lankan fares from the Middle East, e.g.

https://www.google.co.uk/flights/#fl...253*.GBP.81253

They may have an ex MUN you can attach to that. May also be available from other middle east airports.

From my memory you should try these routes:
1. AMS-LHR-HKG-BKK-HKG-LHR-AMS on BA/CX. Search AMS-BKK with stops at HKG.
2. BRU-LHR-HKG-LHR-BRU with BA
3. LUX-LHR-HKG-LHR-BRU with BA
4. AMS/BRU/PAR-LHR-DOH/DOH-CMB-HKG R/T with BA/QR in economy then UL.in business. 560TPs minimum this route.
5. Wait for a decent sale from HEL/SOF/OSL/ARN/CPH and other ports to BKK/HAN/KUL/SIN/PVG/PEK/TYO... on QR then book an Avios ticket to HKG.

What used to be good deals:
1. GERMANY-LHR-HKG R/T with BA for £900
2. VCE-LHR-HKG-CTU-HKG-LHR-MAD-TFS with BA/KA/IB for £1200. Gone are the days.

The cheapest right now is option 4 as you missed the 30 days advance purchase requirements for others.

If you can be a little flexible with dates, BA have some Club fares in April direct from LHR to Hong Kong from £1796 return.

PRG-HEL-HKG
HKG-BKK-HEL-PRG
£1584.
You wouldn't be there very long, nasty connection at HEL for 18 hours on the way out.
