Prices aren’t individual to the OP, feel free to prove me wrong and not just make a useless comment.

Well, pricing up a random AMS-DXB F flight in June :-

BA - £3,342.83
AF - £3,099.24

not so random when we’re talking about a to LAX
if you want to do random places, not surprised you can find a particular route that is cheaper, not very helpful to the discussion for the OP though

What's your point? You've just posted some BA / AA prices LON-LAX

Your original argument was that 'proper' F class is a lot more expensive than BA. I proved that that's not the case. AF is cheaper than BA on the very first random date I chose.

no the point is the OP asked for advice as to whether F flights to LAX are worth it on BA. So the advice I gave was based upon that. I have no idea why you decided to search AMS-DXB other than to try and make a stupid point that doesn’t help the OP who asked for advice.

And as for this stupid term people keep using of ‘proper’ first class I think it is rather stupid you have a product and the value that a consumer is prepared to place on that product. It is individual to a consumer what they want to get for their money; or else one could argue that the only first class is flying by private jet.

No I just posted some random dates for flights to LAX as per the discussion. all who randomly showed BA/AA being cheaper carriers on flights to LAX, would I pay the extra thousands to fly AF, definitely not, if you wish to that’s up to you.

If the alternative is First on another airline, then it depends on which airline. If given a choice between AA and BA it is much the same. If the choice is between BA and SQ it wouldn't take me half a second to make the decision.

Wind your neck in... You commented that a BA F would be cheaper than SQ F (no mention of routes).

FT used to be a place for people to discuss flying. Seems like it's becoming more of a place where people can be rude.

What on earth are you on about? Your Google flights screenshots just show BA / AA flights.

sorry if you found my comment rude, it was not my intention. I really failed to understand the point you were trying to make and your comment came across to me as being obtuse.

That would be a good price for business, so very well done for getting this in F!

Out of interest, what is your routing/dates for this?

HOWEVER, I love it. The ground experience is excellent, the seats/beds are very comfortable, and the food is usually pretty good. The alcohol selection is fantastic, and 99% of the time the service is superb. I love the understated British elegance that is the essence of BA F. Yes, sometimes they could do better, but if you have the money there is no better way to fly. :-)
I agree and disagree. The ground experience is poor, IMO, except the CCR. No greeting to escorts and the F lounges outside of LHR and JFK are wimpy.

The seats are OK, but not private cabins.

There is no caviar.

The champers is OK, and JW blue is a good option. But there are better wine and champagne offerings. The secondary wines are really poor, down to a $15-20 Malbec. Why do that? We all like variety. But we don't want blah wines we can get anywhere.

The food is often good, but there are better food offerings, and it's sometimes bad. The soups are universally excellent. The apps are underwhelming since they dripped caviar and them premium smoked salmon, IMO. The variable quality of many of the food elements, esp the entrees, is way below par, and can be disappointing. But sometimes it's very good...although sometimes very low ability to cook steak rare, unlike certain other premium F airlines.

The PJs are too thin.

The amenity kit is OK, but could be a premium brand.

The service is generally very good, although you don't get that "you're so lucky to be on this flight in F w me/us" attitude you get on some Asian careers. But very professional, generally.

it's a big step over business class if you care abt the above things.

It's a big step over AA (and probably still over UA), but under LH, SQ, AF, or premium Asian and middle eastern carriers.

It's cheaper for cash, but the single WORST thing about BA is $1250 BA file surcharges and fees for a round trip award ticket. That's a killer. Get with the rest of the world. I realize a few of those GBPs go to Heathrow, but these fees are horrendous.
