'Premium car transfers' ; whats this?

In the recent email from BA Alex Cruz, they mention Premium car transfers between terminals, what is this? I have never experienced it. Last week, in F arrive in T5, transfer to T3, no car for me, usually bus, long lines at fast track etc.

The only good thing, the new QF and CX lounges in T3, hands down better then concord room; QF gin bar is a nice touch

More to the point, what does premium even mean?-and why is BA "premium"? Are other carriers not premium? I ate some crisps today that were "premium". If Ryanair served those premium crisps and their premium Lavazza coffee, are they premium too?

It's BA's way of helping those of us doing ex-EU TP runs to get to our long haul flight, as we had the inconvenience of a B2B in AMS/ARN/OSL/HEL/ETC* to get the fare price we wanted.

I had this recently, surprisingly on separate PNRs, when I was flying from Glasgow to Johannesburg, via Heathrow, on a tight connection. I was approached on-board en-route to Heathrow, asked a few questions about my transfer and advised that I would be met from the flight. When I deplaned I was met by a chap who took me down the stairs to a waiting car and drove me to T5C. He then escorted me into the terminal and took me to boarding for my Johannesburg flight. It was a really great service and ensured that I didn't have to rush between flights. Top marks to BA!

Intriguing. Did you have bags checked through to JNB from GLA as a result of which they were aware you were connecting, or was it entirely pro-active determination on BA’s part based on your FF number in the two PNR’s?

I have noticed that BA seem to be much better at spotting trips on multiple bookings maybe because their tablets/Fly shows the passengers next flights.

Interestingly on a recent Qantas flight they knew I was connecting to a British Airways flight back to the UK even though it was separate bookings (BA Executive Club number) being the common denominator.

I had this premium transfer for ABZ-T5 T3-HEL But it wasn't a short connection, I had over 2h at LHR (and the flight from ABZ arrived 20mins early). It really saved a huge amount of time since I was taken straight from the arrival gate at T5 to a gate at T3 and was airside in T3 about 5mins after getting off the first plane. The biggest benefit is that you don't have to go through security a second time (having done it in ABZ).

just to be clear on this service though, it only works for domestic connections as for all other connections, pax has to clear security again so they can't really (or won't really) help with that. so it doesn't help with ex EUs no matter how tight the connection or the important the pax

EDI, GLA, INV, NCL, MAN etc - they will try to drive you to where you need to be given there's no security screening again.

Fraid there is unless you are going from T5,which does not need a Jag transfer.

sorry to be even clearer then. my understanding of the service is that it's BA to BA and likely to be T5 to T5 (rather than intra-transfer where, as you say, there is security again). So it's case of more quickly getting you from an A stand to your long-haul at B or C than it would be by going through the terminal and taking the train.

I am not sure if they do it T5-T3 and vice versa though I've had an AA transfer from T3 to T5 in one of their cars before - didnt bypass security at T5 but was quicker than following any normal route and the transfer bus.

My understanding of the service is that it picks you up at T5 and whips you over to T3 security without waiting for the connections bus.
