FWIW, the telegraph article also speculates incorrectly about the reason for Virgin Galactic owning a 747. It will be used as the 'mothership' for the LauncherOne small satellite launch system not for transporting spares...

ah...I was getting excited at the thought of a QSuite on the UD but then again it would be all over FT if that ever existed.

Its a shame to see them disappear from the air eventually, I think they are a great design for 4 class interior. I always though the UD could be a great F suite space but maybe the dimensions just aren’t quite right for it or the idea of being/going upstairs next to the pilot doesn’t appeal to First pax!

I’m glad BA still has them in their fleet.

The UD does have the problem of access. Not everyone can use the stairs. My mother has got to the stage where I have had to discuss this with her; disembarking the aircraft by coming down those stairs backwards would not be a good look.

Qatar Amiri also has two. They're not used for commercial flights but A7-HHE is painted in the standard QR livery.

A quick google found these:

They are often to be found at my local airport (BOH) as I believe they are maintained there

I have flown on 747's more than any other aircraft, due to most of my flying over my lifetime has been longhaul. And in the in the late 70's-90's the routes I flew, all that operated on them were 747's, so I have grown up with them. I even think I flew on a Qantas 747SP in the 80's, and been meaning to see a photo was taken on that trip to confirm it.
