Delta's not typically a 'surprise and delight' customer service experience and sometimes doesn't have the most proactive cabin crews. Their strength is being the more reliable and predictable option among the big US carriers from in terms of on time planes, on time bags, and such. If something does go wrong, they do a good job of empowering customer-facing employees to fix your problem and get you back on track as soon as possible. And the majority of their employees will actually use that power given for the good of the customer.

Thanks, KARFA.

It's worth noting a handful of things that look like they're the same from before:-

I'm trying to get to SIN from LON in December, leaving the 18th but need to build in a week's stopover in DXB from the 18th-24th. Back to London around the 6th/7th of January. I can't find a way on the BA website to have the middle leg go straight to SIN from DXB (possibly through a partner One World flight). It keeps trying to force me back to London to then take a direct flight to SIN. Is this something they'd be able to do on the phone?

Other thoughts I've had were to use the QF EK codeshares from London to DXB and then do another QF flight to SIN before getting QF straight to London on the return. (This is also seemingly unable to be booked online). Or to just do two tickets, LON-DXB round trip and DXB-SIN round trip.

Any tips on the best way to do these types of routes? Happy to do an ex-EU or fly to AUH or KUL if it would help.

BA can't help here as they haven't got any logical way to get you from Dubai to Singapore

You can indeed do QF (EK metal for the first two legs) - skyscanner / expedia pricing up around £4k though. I saw some sub-£3k Ethiad options but obviously with the transit on the return

If there's a flight and there's availability, and if there's a valid fare that BA can ticket, then BA should be able to do it on the phone.

However, a quick look on ITA suggests that there are no valid BA fares for this sort of routing.

Available from as little as £1,109 according to Google Flights for some December dates (e.g. Dec 10 to Dec 17 - 7 nights)

Can also be done from Athens instead of Amsterdam for under £1,300 for those who fancy an adventure (and an extra 80TPs)

A quick look at the BA calculator suggests that you only get Avios (and no TPs) for D, J & C

During the 15 minute wait at AMS last night, whilst we waited for someone to operate the airbridge I was chatting to the CSM.

She knew all about the AMS based fares and asked if I was off to South Africa or BKK.

Told her it also worked well for Central and South America as I was off to MDE.

Good morning!

I'm looking to treat the Mrs to a trip to the Caribbean in March/April next year.

I completely understand flying direct at that time will be really expensive so do any of you guys know of any cheaper routing to the USA where I can connect to the Caribbean.

I think there is some cheap deals via ARN to MIA for about £1000 but I can't price it up ITA Matrix.

New York or any other close ones would be awesome.

Anyone know of anything?

Coincidentally, I visited to ask a similar question, although I'm looking to go to bgi for the cricket in January.

I'll let you know if I find anything, would be grateful if you could do the same!

It will price up perfectly well if you use dates for which the fare is valid.

Am not sure if it’s still going but I once did a fabulous open jaw from Valencia - St Lucia - Paris via PHL / MIA
