Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Save yourself the hassle of getting to CPH and leave from DUB for £554, It can also be the same cost to open jaw and finish back at London for £550 also so Dub => LHR => DXB =>LHR for same price as adding DUB onto the end, Depends if you want the TPs

Any suggestions how far in advance one should book this? I´d like to do my next trip in December but I am quite sure AA will change their schedule until then for several times...

Best to book now, so you get the fare locked. And when the (inevitable!) schedule change does occur, you wont lose the fare, just you'll need to work through your options with an AAgent to correct the routing to what you want.

Any recommendations for 200 TPs over the next couple of months? Cheaper the better! Been looking at LHR-HEL-TLL but doesn’t seem to be any decent deals there.

Any suggestions or ideas to look into would be gratefully received!

Have a look at DUB/LHR/HEL. This will give 240TPs although you may also be able to price with returning to LHR for 200.

Hi,
Looking for some help in constructing a minimum 420 TP run originating from NYC area, to be completed by 8th May 2018. Hoping for a max one hotel night stay. Provisionally looking at LGA PHL PHX TUS PHX BOS JFK which can be completed with the return PHX BOS being an overnight, thus avoiding a night in a hotel. Coming in at around $1100 in AA First on ITA Matrix, although I am unable to get it to price on AA.com or Google Flights (one too many flights by the looks of things).
Anyone with any other possibilities?
Help appreciated. Thanks.
Andrew

Don't you want to treat him to Silver status? Try one of the Qatar Business Class deals to Asia, with some positioning on BA.

Maybe not cheap - haven't checked - but don't you have a proper 3-class AA flight from JFK to the West Coast? 210 TPs each way and surely there's a simple red-eye coming back.

But probably a lot more expensive.

I suggest @hamilan looks at copying the matrix result into bookwithmatrix and then linking to AA if they are happy with what they have found and the price.

I was looking for about the same -- I'm in PHL but NYC is not a problem.
I went with the TP run posted above using the LAX-PTY fare.
Many an option if you want to cut down the return trip to less flights.

Anything NYC to PHX or further will net you 140TP each way, so, it's a bit easier than jumping around the east coast all day.

Last year I could spend a stopover night at MCO on my way to PTY - any idea what to do in ITA matrix to get a night of sleep instead of doing all the way down in one?

Placing the following in the extension codes would mean you have at least 10 hours between connections.

minconnect 600

The 600 represents minutes which can be altered. However, this would apply for all flights. The alternative would be to break your journey into segments which then allows you to use this between the flights you want for the stopover.

TP Run out of South East Asia

Hello, fairly new here and wanted to ask for your help.
I have booked the LHR-DOH-HKG in the QR sale yesterday: 20/4 - 7/5.
We need to be in BKK, KUL and maybe ICN and was wondering whether there were any interesting TP runs out of these cities, covering the others. Thanks.

I take it you'll be in HKG with no substantial time in DOH?

[edit - not sure if UL do ICN, I somehow interpreted ICN as Jakarta, CGK!) Firemin has it right below. ]

You might look at Sri Lankan and bouncing from Colombo back to ICN. They have some cheap J deals in the other direction so there may be something available. Unfortunately I'm in Shanghai at the moment and can't get to the tools to have a look because of geoblocking, but that wouldn't be a bad place to start. CMB->KUL or BKK is 40 TP I think, where ICN is 140. I think there's a Malaysian sale on business class fares at the moment, and you might well get something for KUL<->BKK, but watch the booking class as some of the deals don't generate TP.
