My year ends on the 8th June and i will be taking the following flights

LAX - JFK : June 8th (daytime local time flight)
JFK - LHR : Departing JFK @ 11:00pm, arriving LHR 11:00am on the 9th
LHR - CAI : Departing LHR @ 5:15 pm on the 9th

The TPs from the final leg (LHR - CAI) are required to get me over the 3500TP mark and i'll just scrape it with that flight - but the flight is on the 9th and my year ends on the 8th

Will they post to this year?
Your first 2 flights will count towards this current TP year collection period.

Unfortunately your last flight will not credit to this current year but for your new TP collection year beginning the 9th June onwards.

If I am flying Aer Lingus metal from DUB to ORD in business class but a BA flight number and ticket, would I earn the normal BA tier points and miles with bonus as per my current status in the BAEC?

Yes, if booked under the BA codeshare you earn TPs and avios.

I have 235 TPs and im 3 flights short of getting bronze (year ends october), i generally only fly to London with BA (as there are better options out of GLA to North America and Asia), if i stuck to BA for everything id probably have a lot more TP's but thats a different matter. I do collect BA Companion vouchers with the AMEX and i have a J flight to HKG and back from SIN in september, im going to try and get bronze as it will be fairly easy for me to collect the last 3 flights required to hit bronze with work flights to london, the reason i want bronze is to be able to reserve seats on the HKG/SIN club world sectors without having to pay the ridiculous £100 a seat per person fees (so £400 total). I am not overly fussed about silver as i have AMEX platinum getting me priority pass and plaza premium lounge access (which i think is better then the Galleries lounges in LHR T5) but if i could get silver without too much extra outlay then i presume i could choose my J seats now rather 1 week before with bronze. Is there anyone with historical experience of booking LH J seats on HKG of SIN sectors who would happen to know if there is reasonable availability to book a window and correspnding aisle seat for 2 people 1 week out, or would i be better pushing for silver and securing them now? Anything else im missing as a silver member that would be beneficial other than lounge and seat booking?

Special Services for GGL members at US airports?

Hello. I am curious to know whether any other GGL members have experienced Special Services at a US airport. I have flown a couple of times from Miami and was escorted through security, and later collected from the lounge and escorted onto the plane. This also happened to me recently at LAX. I fly regularly to ORD and JFK and have never experienced it at either of those locations. Similar disappointment today at LAS. Have others had the Special Services treatment, and if so where?

While the following thread started out to be about ORD, experiences at other US airports are also listed:

Your particular trip will get you more avios being Silver in stead of Bronze. More important, with trips in Economy you will have fast track security as a Silver member at many airports.

Sorry i should have clarified but my HKG/SIN flights are Avios redemptions with 2-4-1 which i assume dont get tier points.

That's correct, you do not get any tier points or Avios for redemption flights. They also don't count towards the required number of 'eligible' flights either.

So my question still stands, given that it will cost £400 to purchase 2x seats for the 2x legs of the journey, in peoples expeirence:

1. Keep my soon to be bronze and bag my seats at T-1 week with a reasonable (wont hold you to it) chance of 2 seats together with 1 being window on A380 and return (not as fussed about seating on the return actually) on the 777.
2. Try some sort of sub £400 TP run to achieve silver to bag the seats now (and associated silver benefits) - or is that a non starter.

Thanks
Gary

Hi all,

I'm 80 tier points short to get silver and booked a standard economy return flight from LHR to FRA (15 tier points in total) by the end of May hoping to upgrade the two flights for 69 GBP to Club Europe (which would increase the tier points to 80). However, now I am able to upgrade but instead of 69 GBP it is 109 GBP. Did BA increase the prices for cash upgrades?

Thanks for letting me know,
Chris

Thanks for letting me know. Do you think it's worth the upgrade or is there a cheaper way of attending silver compared to paying 218 GBP in total?

Also, I'm bronze since Easter but didn't get the letter which includes luggage tags etc. Will I get this or will BA send this through when My tier point collection year ends in July?

Could anybody please clarify if tier points earned on OW airlines count towards upgrading to bronze/silver etc with BAEC?

I have flown 8 flights in J over the last 12 months and earned 1000 TP (4 x flights were with AY & 4 x with QR)

I've tried to read the sticky at the start of this thread but I just don't really understand all the rules.

If they don't count then why do they show in my account? Is there another use for TP's that i'm missing?

Thanks
