Sadly you are right however, the chef at the Ritz is at the top of his game and I don't think BA could ever serve food of this quality on board. I have a collection of old J and F menus and they make for sad reading when compared to the current offerings.

It appears from the BA people I was talking to last night that many J and F pax want "comfort food" such as sausage and mash and a beef burger. Not my choice for an F flight.

Of course. Goldies like the high life (and I don't mean the magazine) and are pretty smart where choice of air transport is concerned......... ^

I guess it depends on the clients. A busy business-person probably needs his/her sustenance before/after a hard day at someone else's office. The leisure J/F want a nice experience. You can't please everyone.

So the food that F and J pax want happens to be the cheapest to provide. Funny that!

I rather like the look of that wine list.
A good SV, lovely Puligny and a decent red.

I hope there was some decent port? 40 year old Taylors?

A sign of the much forecast downturn? I would be keen to read more if you're able to expand Worcester.

To those that went, the evening sounds fabulous, top drawer food and wine. The sight of fillet steak, foie gras and truffle has got my mouth well and truely watering.

The choice of venue is interesting, cost aside, it does project a certain image.

No port, but the red was on generous pour.

A comfort food option is a very welcome addition to the First menu, discussions I’ve had with crew on board have confirmed that regulars like such an option. I often choose the comfort food option, especially if I’ve had to eat at restaurants for quite a few days in a row - a burger, bowl of pasta/risotto or bangers and mash often does the trick. Something not too rich but satisfying.

What??? No Port?

This deserves at least a 2-page rant...............a focus on lowered standards, and how things used to be so much better in the past, with some comments about young people..

But it is nearly time for my tablets and confinement to my rooms, so I'll write it tomorrow.

So apart from the food and drink was there anything else discussed or presented at the event that merits a mention on here, or are we to assume it was just a GGL piss-up?

IIRC, this is the event that was to introduce the new wines that will soon appear in First and Club World.

Ah, in which case discussion of the wines served at the event seems somewhat relevant

A lovely looking menu but serving a 2016 Californian Pinot Noir is infanticide.

The majority of those wines are being, or have been, served onboard already.
