Below is details of when the LGW based 777’s are to undergo WiFi installation. Each aircraft is planned to take approx 5 days to have WiFi fitted... It is unclear installation will take place at CWL, SNN or LGW.
G-YMMS - WIFI installation planned to be completed first week of October 2018
G-YMMR - WIFI installation planned to be completed mid October 2018
G-YMMC - WIFI installation planned to be completed mid October 2018
G-VIIV - WIFI installation planned to be completed end of October 2018
G-VIIW - WIFI installation planned to be completed first week of November 2018
G-VIIX - WIFI installation planned to be completed mid November 2018
G-VIIT - WIFI installation planned to be completed mid November 2018
G-VIIU - WIFI installation planned to be completed end of November 2018
G-VIIO - WIFI installation planned to be completed mid March 2019
G-VIIP - WIFI installation planned to be completed late March 2019
G-VIIR - WIFI installation planned to be completed early April 2019
Currently only G-VIIY and G-YMMD are the only two LGW based 777’s fitted with WIFI

Yes, and the reason why BA hasn't launched it yet is because it hasn't been launched
There's been talk of other airlines being interested and none of them have come out of the woodwork yet because it is all hinging on the service launching commercially with *someone*, which in this case is IAG (BA). Deutsche Telekom seemed to declare the network "ready" when they had done their bit, which is when they had their ground stations ready - themselves being delayed already. I always found that highly aggressive considering that there was a satellite element to it as well (outside of Deutsche Telekom's responsibility), and if you read between the lines every statement saying the EAN was "ready" referred to sometimes theoretical system trials, not actual trials with all the physical elements actually in place. So the technical side is certainly on element in the delays.
The other is the legal challenges - as much as everyone was adamant that they wouldn't lead to delays, there clearly are delays. So that could be another aspect to this.

It doesn't help much!

Flew on G-BYGG from LHR to JFK on Saturday. There were a couple of announcements about WiFi, but it didn't work.
Tried on my personal android (Pixel 2) and work iPhone 7 and neither worked.
After initially finding the WiFi network, the shop.ba.com link refused to go past a loading screen.
I wasn't particularly bothered as I didn't need to use it, I was just intrigued as to how fast the system was.

Thanks Calum for this - I have seen it on the wiki here and thanks also for the info about the 787 being fitted in September. I was also wondering when the rest of the fleet - C, H, I J & K as you mentioned - will be fitted. Any chance by the end of the year if you have any info?

Per the wikipost at the top of this thread apparently 71 short haul a/c have had wifi installed but there is no indication as to when it will be rolled out and switch on.
