For long-haul, it's priced as a round-trip so generally much cheaper than one-ways. For example LON-NYC/BOS-LON will be priced as the outbound portion of a return trip from LON to NYC plus the inbound portion of a return trip from LON to BOS.
On shorthaul, with the exception of a few routes, it doesn't make much difference these days and 2 one-ways may actually be cheaper.
