When a CE food choice is not a choice

Hi all

another CE food observation. GLA to LGW 9.40am.

sitting in 3f looking forward to my bread cheese and meat, which I got. I was surprised to hear the crew say to row one. Would you liken cheese and meat OR a cooked breakfast. All 4 in row one took cooked.

row 2 PAX number one. I'll have cooked.
crew: we don't have a choice any more. Only cheese and meat.

i really felt sorry for the crew. There was a moment where we saw the level of service BA should be aiming for only for it to turn into CruzAir.

I was happy but row 2 wasn't.

not unusual to run out of choices and what you haven't told us is how many pax there were.

if it was 6 pax in total (4 in row 1 taking cooked, 1 in row 2 and you in row 3), understandable that they wouldn't have more than 4/6 of one particular meal.

if it was e.g. 4 rows of 4 pax and they had 4/16 cooked, that's rather poor.

Do domestic flights still have the cold plate at breakfast? It has very sadly disappeared on European flights (now just regular cooked or vegetarian cooked).

Best to load mostly fry-ups on a GLA breakfast departure. Eating cheese and cold meat at that time of the morning is not something Glaswegians do. Are you an incomer?

Nope 5 or 6 rows of four. I agree with the 'weegie fryup but I've been on a restaurant holiday in the Basque country so was feeling all "continental".

A am an incomer of sorts. Come from Loch Lomond area but been in GLA since 1998

Are the breakfasts loaded in LGW for the return journey? If so then if the cooked breakfasts were popular on the outbound then that may explain the peculiar lack of balance in the meal loading. Does seem odd.

Loading 4 cooked breakfasts for ~20/24 passengers is a bit mean.

this is is what I suspect. But as someone who used to analyse stock levels a while back, this is an easy one to do

It is easy for the outbound crew to keep an eye on the stock and save enough for the return journey.

Bread and cheese in Club lol.

You'd get a better breakfast if you broke into a shop on Sauchiehall St.

How much does one of these cooked breakfasts cost? The fact there were not enough loaded shows the value BA put on CE pax...

Indeed. And I thought that 3 Ploughman's in a 15 pax cabin was mean back in July!

I think it's fair to say you've been away too long!

How far away is the ability to pre-order for CE sectors?

AA manage it fine on their shorter domestic routes in First.

Will help manage any possible disappointment.
