Ahead of the official welcome party (who you may have catched and will be along shortly or may welcome you in the morning), may I warmly welcome you to FT and to the BAEC forum in particular.
If you are a BA Gold member, you can use double Avios to get a seat...
But there seams to be reasonable availability form London to your destinations at the moment if your reasonable flexible.
This is what it is currently showing me for available dates in June to Rome in Economy
And in Business
And for JNB
How many seats are you looking for?
p.s. no idea why FT is displaying one of the JNBs twice, it only shows 4 pictures attached in the script.

How many seats, and what dates are you looking at? I put in June 1st +/- 3 days and immediately saw redemption available for LHR-FCO - although I was only searching for 1 seat.
Edited to welcome your first post on FlyerTalk khandheria! I'm not sure if that's a record, 13 years between joining and posting - but it's good to see you've become active!

BA's website
There is only Economy (Eurotraveler) or Business (Club Europe) to Rome on BA, no first unless your not travelling from London?

Yes, you need to manually change your country on the website to UK in order to get to these pages. Your account stays in your current country, you just change the website country option.

Side question now that we are at the topic of the award calendar, do you need to have the necessary AVIOS in your account to use the search function?

So a welcome and a congratulations.
Welcome to Flyertalk khandheria, and welcome to the BA Board. You have absolutely come to the right place, and if you haven't found a set of dates that works for you by all means consider a Gold Priority Reward. If conventional availability shows up a day or more before departure - and availability in the 2-4 days timeframe is quite common - you can cancel the GPR and book the normal redemption. That said, BA's routes to SA are often very full. Don't overlook the LGW-CPT and the Iberia services too.
And congratulations on 5000 posts, HilFly, your contributions here are always worth reading.
