1. For AARP, the flight must be on a BA or codeshare (AA/IB/AY), open jaw/multi city is possible.

2. For BA Visa discount, it will only work for marketed and operated by BA and round trip (full discount) or openjaw (one segment discount). If try to mix a BA flight number operated by Iberia/American with the Visa discount, you will get an error saying "This offer is not combinable with any other discount or deal".

It depend how big is the discount going trough London (high airports fees) vs connecting in another airport. I have found that some routes are cheaper on a non-stop flight.
Follow up:
We were able to book through the AARP portal (which takes you to the BA site) and add the CARDOFFERU coupon prior to paying to get both the AARP and Chase BA card discounts.

I don't think so. The terms and conditions says it must be booked online. See point 4 in the section entitled Rules and Restriction after clicking on the link below:

Does Chase Promocode Change Fare Rules?

I just booked a Chase BA fare return from US to the U.K.

I got $1k off thanks to the promo code.

My query surrounds the changes fee, I noticed it was $500 per segment.

Is that normal for an F Fare? Does the Chase code change any Fare rules?

It shouldn't do. I just looked up a completely random NYC-LHR return in F for next year which priced in A selling class under fare ANN1C1S3. Now your fare may well be different, but by way of example this F fare has USD 500 so perhaps this is usual?

CHANGES
BEFORE DEPARTURE
CHARGE USD 500.00/CAD 500.00 FOR REISSUE/REVALIDATION.

It’s within the bounds of normality for an A fare. F fares are usually no fee.

To add to what KARFA said, picking another random A class fare from JFK to LHR, I got this:-
Code:
CHANGES
    ANY TIME
      CHARGE USD 500.00/CAD 500.00 FOR REISSUE/REVALIDATION.
         NOTE -
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TICKETS CHANGED IN THE US
ANY PENALTY FEE MUST BE COLLECTED VIA AN EMD.
          REFER TO SPEEDBIRDCLUB.COM OR BATRAVELTRADE.COM
          AND YOUR GDS FOR INSTRUCTIONS.
          --------------------------------------------------
CHARGE APPLIES PER TRANSACTION - PER PERSON FOR
          ALL PASSENGER TYPES.
INFANTS WITHOUT A SEAT - NO CHARGE.
          --------------------------------------------------
To get any further with your specific case, we'd need to know what you booked and at what fare (ie route, date, ticketing date, base fare).

If your fare rules included "CHARGE APPLIES PER TRANSACTION - PER PERSON", then that means what it says.
