Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

Hi all
I managed to get a £1100 rtn in business class Dub to Las @ at the end of june in the sale, and i am also looking at the options to do at least a few TP runs and so far the best 2000+ miles runs i found are from Lax to Mia,Clt and slightly more expensive Bos,Rdu and from LAS Bos and Phl prices seem to be around £550 to £650 rtn,for other direct flights they are £750 upwards. i hope this helps for anyone looking to do TP runs stateside, i am still looking at all the various options.

Just wondering whether the deal my colleague got was exceptional. For an HNL run racking up about 1,000 TP, what kind of cost should I expect nowadays. I can be pretty flexible as to when I travel.
also just to add to the other good posts by others, have a read through some of the reference posts at the start of the thread as there is lots of information which may help. Also there is a list of threads which you may want to watch other than this one as sale fares across oneworld carriers which could be good TP earners don’t alwsys get highlighted here.

What routing are you getting £1100 pricing for? I can’t get much cheaper than £1500 for DUB-LHR-JFK-LAX-LAS return.

Given that they are domestic transfers, are you able to leave the airside area and go downtown for sight-seeing or maybe an overnight hotel? Also, if you had checked baggage, would it remain in the system and not be available? Spare underwear in the carry-on I guess!
If you share your dates/routing, I'm sure someone can help to find if there are more efficient transfers/options for your journey that may avoid long layovers

It was DUB-LHR-LAS LAS-ORD-DUB and i have made a slight mistake in the currency conversion and it was £1190 but that fare is no longer available as even i tried and it is a lot more expensive.
i did book it as soon as the sale started.and it is in business class (club-world) and not first.

Thanks. I’ll keep my eyes peeled. The routing I posted gets more TPs.

Hi Oxtail
yes i tried to get the cheapest possible route to the USA and use the savings where the cost per TP would be infinitely better, not only that i wanted to try both the 747 and 787 before the 747 disappears from service.

Yes, thanks, I'm sure it is possible. I wasn't that bothered about time and was actually interested in some of the layovers being interesting. eg Liberty Bell by day and a night stop on the strip in LAS. Just playing with something like DUB-PHL-PHX or LAX - anywhere to get 4x140TP and there happened to be one with a return which unexpectedly routed PHX-LAS-PHL-DUB. Also interested in doing the pre-clearance thing in DUB to see how that goes. Now looking at trans-con flights which get flat beds eg JFK-LAX.

Any tips or wrinkles to getting to Doha in a reasonably TP efficient way? I'm seeing some WT+ fares for around £600 from LHR, but can't get find anything reasonable for TP in business class using the normal tricks. I've looked at QR from various locations in Europe to (say) BKK and SIN but can't obviously insert a layover on one of the legs.

upthread there was a couple of examples of TP heavy runs that transited DOH.
Schematically, it went
MUC-DOH-CMB-X (ticket 1)
Y-CMB-DOH (ticket 2)
DOH-CMB-Y (ticket 3)
X-CMB-DOH-MUC (ticket 1)

where X and Y may be the same or different locations to get the best fares.
If both X and Y are one of CAN HKG CGK or NRT, then this earns 840 TP (T1) + 2x280 TP (T2/T3) = 1400 TPs

Tickets 2 and 3 were bought as OWs by the OP to sidestep potential issue with the min stay, but since you plan to stay in Doha, that may not be relevant to your case.

With the MUC-CGK fare on SRILANKAN in J class, is it possible to make a stopover in CMB on the way back for free or for decent price increase?

As I read the rules of fare IQ6MDE6, the answer is yes:
Category 8: Stopover restrictions:
1 STOPOVER PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION IN CMB.

Edit: Did a try reservation procedure on ITA Matrix. The difference of doing a 3 day stop in CMB vs only hours is +£37 (£1510 vs 1473). IMHO, dfinitively a decent price increase.

It seems to hike the price up for me by circa £50.

Haha, didn't see ESFLYER95's post as was preparing the edit of my own. The slight difference in pricing £37-50 could be dependent on choice of weekday flying in/out of CMB, as there is a very stable pricing on the MUC/FRA-DOH-CMB-CGK route

You can book these direct on the Srilankan site using the multi city tool, so with the dates you fancy for stopovers. Trick is to locate the DOH->X leg using googleflights etc then construct the trip around that on ITA Matrix, then transfer to the booking tool. I'd already given this suggestion above but completely forgot about the routing over the intervening couple of weeks, so that's a big DOH! from me
