** AA Domestic First on two cabin will earn business TPs and avios for departures on or after 11 January 2017 - see reference posts for more details **

** Note that the practice of AA Domestic 3-class service flights booking into A for 210 TPs when I was no longer available ceased in September 2017. Discussion here. **

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

Or you can do what I did which is spend hours collating all the AA flight numbers and then plot out a scheduled with the connections you want. Once you have a list of the flight numbers you want to take just stick that in the advanced routing box.

Here's a link to my spreadsheet....

The flight numbers are all correct for this November as that it when I'm planning my run. This isn't every single flight, eg on some connections I only bothered putting down the morning options as I had no intention of planning a 3+hrs wait till a pm flight.

Capetown, Singapore, Delhi - 10 days creativity..

I am seeking inspiration for ways to get a high TP run for an upcoming trip...
Origin is UK (STN, BHX or LON) - so happy to Ex-EU
7 & 8 NOV I need to be in CPT
14 & 15 NOV I need to be in DEL
Normal plan would be WT+ out and back using BA holidays, so my budget is about £2500 total for the flights. But I also need to pop to Singapore and/or HKG in Nov- not far from DEL, so I'm thinking of some sort of LON-CPT-SIN-DEL-LON routing. Outbound 6 NOV return 16 NOV. Total budget then about £3500 or more if I top up myself. I would love to get >1000 TP which would take me within striking distance of the 5000 for GGL

My initial thoughts are to use Qatar lon-doh-cpt-doh-sin-(MH?? via KUL)-DEL-DOH-LON but maybe Sri-Lankan, CPT-SIN HKG. The weekend is usable for oddball routings.

Any creative ideas for where/how to start exploring

You did say exotic

TUN is your friend

TUN-DOH-JNB-DOH-TUN for 1023 EUR
CPT for 1765 EUR

TUN-DOH-SIN-DOH-TUN for 1695 EUR
KUL 1025 EUR
HKG 2190 EUR

Then fly to DEL either from SIN/HKG or DOH.

1120 TPs plus the DEL flight and the positioning from LON

If you're looking at spending money after this trip to get up to the 5k mark it might be worth looking at an ex-OSL DONE4 RTW ticket. If you maximise the 16 sectors you could easily rack up a couple of thousand TPs on the same trip.

I believe a DONE4 ex-OSL is around $6800 currently.

WOW ! That is Exotic. And juicy. I'll have a look at the timings. TUN is the new hub. (I suspect I need to stay away from the beach to avoid premature death.)

Here is a picture to get my bearings!

Sounds interesting. MY TP collection ends Dec 8th. I need to go to SEL, TYO, SFO/SJC in late Oct or Early Dec - so maybe an idea is brewing there - but I never thought of a DONE 4 before - I will research. I don't want to get too complicated / inflexible by boiling too much together.

Hello everyone

I am looking for a MIA / MCO based TP-run between September 30th and October 6th (departure in MIA towards Europe on this day at 1655).

I was very excited about the MEX-IPC business deal lately, but unfortunately the travel dates did not match at all. I need about 600 TPs for Gold and this trip would have fitted perfectly. I was also thinking to fly MIA-LAX-MIA-SFO-MIA in business but this seems pretty annoying. Does anyone have a nice route where i can get something about the remaining 600TP's?

Kind regards

TYO may be a cheaper origin but you would have to position there.

More hints and tips may be found in the dedicated oneworld forum and the oneworld ticket explorer FAQs thread (jump to the end). Also take a look at https://rtw.oneworld.com but bear in mind the tool is imperfect and does not show everything that is permissible.

TU runs a daily non stop and TB has a twice-a-week service from CRL.
