Call centre outsourcing review?

Hi folks - firstly the usual apologies if this has appeared in another thread and I've missed it, but spotted this in the Torygraph whilst eating my lunch and thought it was worth sharing. Terrible (but hardly surprising) news if true:

Thought they'd closed Manchester years ago, along with Belfast & Glasgow. Newcastle would also have closed if BA didn't own the building.

Manchester has been open and is where the GGL/You First team is based.

There is an airport there as well, but BA seem to be ignoring it except for flights to LHR.

BA continues its dive to the bottom. The continuous changes aren't a surprise any more. The only surprise is that someone isn't hitting the STOP button and letting them take stock before further degrading the product.

Customer research has indicated that most customers like talking to people overseas otherwise they'd not be flying and this will help our customers get practice in conversing with people who may speak a different language.

We're pleased to offer this latest enhancement at no additional charge.

Yep (plus services mentioned by Anonba ). Didsbury to be specific. And i'll feel personally sad for many of them if they lose their jobs (feel sorry for Newcastle staff too of course, but in the Didsbury team I've been talking to a few of them hundreds of times to the point that they remember me (and of course i remember more of them).

Not too mention Sudbury, which apparently houses the "BAEC back office" team who are the recent lucky recipients of a 9-page fax from me about what should have been a simple Partner Mission Avios credit

The best advantage of flying First/GGL is the call centre, at least in my experience.

Will be sad to see them go, both personally for my convenience and for their jobs.
