Any suggestions as to which varient it is?
Bear in mind this configuration will be obsolete very soon. I think there are only 2 left so likely by march that will be a 32J as well.

Do we think this might be an indication that at least one of the remaining frames (MMR/S) with this config might get a Gatwick refurb and end up there (a la' G-YMMA)

I had posted in 777 Club suite thread but perhaps better placed here.

Old 4 Class 777-2's which typically ran on the Gatwick Leisure routes I understand initially did not have upgraded World Traveller Plus seats - Just the World Traveller Seats went to ten abreast.

At that time, we didn't even have the new club suites.

Given that all of these 4 class 777-2's have been upgraded to the new club suites, does anyone know whether BA upgraded the World Traveller Plus seats at this point?

Take G-VIIW for example. That's a 4 class 777-2. Does that have the newer WTP or older?

Thanks

I think you are referring to the 77R variant. You can see details on aerolopa: https://www.aerolopa.com/ba-type-77r
G-VIIW is one of 3 frames in this group, none have Club Suite, and all appear to have updated WTP seats.

Y/W: The refubs of all the 777s include the latest (as of 2019) versions of the WT and WTP cabins/seats.

J: The LGW fleet get the classic CW seats spruced up, the LHR fleet get CS.

F: The 77Ws get the new First Suites with the doors; the -200ERs got a spruce.

G-YMMU is now back at LHR, returning on Tuesday from Cardiff, assuming this has now been refurbished with the new club suites?
This should then leave G-YMMR and G-YMMS with the old cabin with one of them surely set to take YMMU's place in the next week.

awaiting confirmation either way, but the seat maps for the 2 flights that YMMU has operated have shown the old layout (not even the LGW config) so it's possible it has just been parked or having other mx that whole time.

Interesting it was never refurbished whilst at Cardiff, but as someone said on another thread the systems may not be showing the correct config yet? Surely I thought it wouldn't have stayed there two months if it wasn't being refurbished though I did see a photo taken last month of it parked up at CWL with seemingly nothing happening.

Is there any indication of when G-YMMR is planned to visit Cardiff for its refurbishment? And is this now getting the 77L config?

I can't help but think that, given the likely soft demand, some of the 77Es are going to be retired in the not too distant future. So, this may be influencing the speed of completing the refurbishments. I know the original plan was to get 30 years out of them but, that was when demand was growing.

Against that, though, is the fleet reduction from the retired 747s, the last of which were due to be replaced by 777-9s that aren't going to see the light of day for some years yet....

Yes, that is true, although I would also mention the 781s as these, IINM, were originally intended for expansion.

yes they were originally meant for expansion but I think will now really be playing more a replacement role at the moment. I know BA took options for 6 in Q4 last year possibly to replace 77Es. I don’t know

The 777-200ERs were delivered between 1997 and 2009, likely BA would need to reconfigure most of them even if they plan to get 25 years off them.
