Upcoming 900 TP Trip on...EK

So, after having enough of EY's 'bait and switch' game with their, admittedly, rather impressive looking A380 First Class, I've cancelled after the constant aircraft and schedule changes.

I read on the BA website about earning Avios and Tier Points on non-OW aircraft providing they have a QF flight number.

So..anyway..I've now booked LHR-SYD-LHR on QF flight numbers exclusively on EK metal for all 4 legs. 33,000 Avios and 900 Tier Points. Wahoo!

Not bad at all. Wonder how long this little exception will last!

As of the 1st January ONLY Avios will be awarded. Didn't you know that?

No More TP's on EK Flights with QF Numbers

Did you mean LHR-DXB-SYD rather than LHR-SYD-DXB? How do you get to 900 TPs btw?

DXB-SYD is >6000 miles so Longhaul+, so 240 TPs in F.

210 + 240 + 240 + 210

Corrected my mistake in the thread now!

Yes..as Airprox explained...

LHR-DXB = 210 TPs
DXB-SYD = 240 TPs
SYD-DXB = 240 TPs
DXB-LHR = 210 TPs

Was really simple to do through Amex too. Just ask them to book them as QF flights and voila. MMB even displays 'Operated by Emirates.'

You do miss out on the Tier bonuses though.

Might I ask the cost of your trip?

I pay around 2,600 all in for QR F CDG-DOH-BKK return, which earns me 840 TPs...although really it's 920 TPs as I do the LHR-CDG legs in CE (which adds around 300 to the 2,300 F ticket).

Curious about the price, purely as I'd quite like to try EY F on the A380

If you start in OSL you can do SYD on EK for GBP 3800 in F. Starting in LHR adds on average GBP 3000 to that cost on EK.

I am not sure you can do a full codeshare to BKK. I only see that offered from LHR and it is GBP 4860.

Thanks Henky.

I wasn't considering taking EK to BKK (as their product is no better than QR IMHO). Also, you can only do the codeshare to Australia.

But, I do have an upcoming trip to Sydney due for later this year, and have been asked to find out pricing - so thought the EK option might be worth a look.
