Having seen the gate agents' computer screens in EDI the other day, I saw that they can choose to run DCS/PRS (the old system) or FLY. I believe Edinburgh is yet to change systems, so while in theory they could load FLY, as the flight would still only be created in the old system, they'd be unable to use FLY for normal operations until the switchover.
What you were probably seeing was the Dispatchers part of the Fly system. The Weight + Balance part of the process has been running in FLY at ALL stations for some time now. EDI are still using the old PRS system for check-in.

From a dispatch PoV, it's a good system.
Get to use it very soon, and bar any teething issue it is full of ways and features to enhance the customer experience . It makes IRROPS easier to handle as well, but hopefully there won't be too much of that....

Is this the same system they are testing at OSL? Had this the other week, seemed like a shambles.

Luckily we were in CE and there was no one in that line, but the normal bag drop line was massive and didn't move very fast at all, every passenger took about 5 minutes to process. We also took about 5 minutes, not sure what was going on, there just seemed to be some sort of confusion and a manager/technical looking person overseeing things, but not really helping anything go faster.

Not at all looking forward to this coming to LHR, its going to be a nightmare.

BA check-in at OSL was a nightmare yesterday morning. We arrived early and were first in the CE line... and then proceeded to spend nearly an hour staring at an unmanned counter, as the agent was over by the ticketing counter on the phone, trying to sort out a problem with the bags of the family in front of us. Three other counters were open, but each had long lines and very little progress was being made.

From what I was able to gather, it seemed they were completely unable to check bags through past LHR. I've never seen them staff four check-in counters at OSL before, so the problems must have been anticipated.

What most of the delays on the counter will be are just teething issues. Like a few users on the forum, I've used it from two different sides, and I think when used to it, staff and customers will love it and the features it offers.

I will say, it's interesting reading experiences that users have had at airports rolling out to the new system.

It's Totally new system and everyone is getting used to it.
Remember the new air traffic control system?

The advantage is its been planned as a phased introduction.
The other good thing is that there is a lot of support there as well, so these teething issues can be found while the rollout is in progress, and fixing them before the final rollout later in the year.

Have MAN started testing FLY yet? I flew MAN-LHR-SIN last week, and my bags didn't make it onto the final sector.

Correctly or not, I was informed at SIN that this was due to "MAN not keying the bags correctly", which sounds to me like an agent error?

I'm pretty sure SFO is using it now — they were midway through a (not entirely hiccup-free) rollout when I flew through in December.

LCY is going FLY this week... I wouldn't recommend cutting it fine there this week!

Does the change to FLY involve a change to the way that seat maps are displayed on public sources (eg ExpertFlyer)?

We've long been used to the system where three days before departure, the generic aircraft code on the seat map is changed to a specific internal code. Then the seat map disappears from public sources at T-25h.

However, I've noticed that for some departure airports this has now changed. The generic aircraft code remains on the seat map after T-3d (so, for example, you no longer get an aircraft change alert from EF at that point), and the seat map then remains visible even after you've arrived at the airport.

Is this a consequence of a change to FLY? If so, it seems that it will slowly render the internal codes thread useless for practical purposes.

In addition, I wonder whether this heralds any change to the process of publishing the edited seat map at T-3d.

I am normally on the App, but as happenstance had it, I was in LED yesterday which has been on FLY for about a month. This shows the differences in the boarding pass, the lower one being the legacy PRS version. The App and OLCI boarding passes for these destinations do not appear to have changed, so it's only the airport issued boarding passes that are affected.

The PNR appears to the lower left of the bar code, the flight number in the lower right corner, and the highlighted yellow area for gate and seat number. There are a few other minor layout changes.

Interesting that the e-ticket number is printed on the stub.

I noticed the e-ticket number and PNR on the boarding pass I got at BHD last week. A FLY change, I thought. There was no highlighting.
