Presumably in the hypothetical instance, they could also do a normal climb just to get the a/c out again?

Wasn't there an a/c that landed at the wrong airport last year or year before and the runway was "officially" too short for them to get out again?

The climb gradients in the SIDs for LCY are all around the 6.5-9% mark which is around 400-550ft per nm.

It is the approach whihc has the 5.5 degree descent angle (typically descent angles are abour 3 degrees). Coming from the west to 09 you maitain 2000ft until 3.4 miles (i.e. past Canary Wharf) then 5.5 degree descent to lose the 2000ft in that 3.4 miles, same for a 27 approach. By comparison at LHR when at 3.4 miles out you would be around 1200ft.
