Yes it was a magical experience, food and drink were superb and those who travelled would invariably see one or more celebs on there, if they weren't one themselves of course.
I would agree (based on my one and only LHR-JFK ) however what I found interesting was that the onboard service was clearly designed for a load factor of 50-60 people, when I flew it (completely full with 100 pax) the whole drinks and dinner service took almost the full 3 hour flight.

Everything was top notch though - lobster, caviar, Pol Roger Winston Churchill 1986 and so on. I dug out the wine list the other day to show to a colleague and he simply said, "Box Office."

I echo the airbus fleet.

A320 series including neo + A321neo LR for thin TATL etc.
A350 900/1000 for LH flying
A380

Probably room for 779s in the future too. Certainly NO 787s unless 8 across in Y.

A360s, A370s, A390s and B797s - just assume that Airbus and Boeing will design your ideal plane for long haul and shorthaul respectively (or vice versa)

(One of them could be Concorde II)

Boeing 2707 for LH and Boeing Sonic Cruiser for SH then?

For me, it would be:

Short-haul fleet
120 x A321Neo with 33"Y and 16 WTP seats for J.

Long-haul fleet
50 x A350-1000
30 x 747-8
50 x A380-800

More likely 747 will be history. Airbus have stated the A380 ain't going anywhere and with a possible Neo and/or stretch on the way...
They also stated that they may end production, then tried to row back from that.

It is a fact that they have taken no new orders from airlines who do not have existing A380s.

To my mind the jury's out on this one!

I should hang my head in shame for starting this thread and not mentioning Concorde.

Emirates have all but committed to replacing all their current A380s with a re-engined version should Airbus build it. I don't think the A380 is going to break any records but it looks like its here to stay, which is more than can be said for the 747-8 passenger version.

Generally smaller volume aircraft with 2x2 seating in shorhaul and 1:2:1 seating in Club long haul. This would be a properly configured 787 for long haul and the Embrear 170/190 for short haul. a380 reconfigured with imagination for higher volume long haul. More A318 club only flights

There is of course the rumour that BA will be taking more in the next few years.
