Chatting to the lounge staff, quite a few people moved onto the afternoon flight, and BA moved others onto the evening Delta flight so they could get their connections.
The bartender here (anyone who is a regular on this route knows who I am talking about) is plying me with all his cocktail creations, *hick*, so I should sleep soundly at least, and probably have a sore head later!

I know him all too well, it's what makes the SEA lounge one of the best outstation lounges IMO

It's also only done for emergency reasons, and not often.
Fuel is also not cheap. Dumping fuel is fining yourself. To fill the tanks of a 747-400 currently costs about GBP70000, if you end up dumping half of that on any frequent basis, you can see how an accountant would notice.

It's not just the cabin that needs cleaning - report into G-RAES return to LHR

Makes for interesting reading - in a nutshell, detritus was restricting airflow to the flight deck to such an extent that all three crew had to go onto oxygen, make a PAN call, and return to Heathrow. Didn't say where the 777 was headed but could probably check on the BA Source.
Not an isolated incident - interesting that this type of thing can happen!
