Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?

Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Prospero's guide to using ITA matrix in post 3 (here along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or less
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year)

Or a slightly more interesting fun run

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VLL via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520

Well I done it. I'm going on a fairly dull TP run this weekend LGW-JER-LGW-AMS//AMS-LGW-JER-LGW. This and my flight to DXB next weekend will get me gold, assuming that BA transfter the points to the previous year like they said they would.

Has there been any instance of Nokia not doing that within the 2 week grace period?

Thanks to everyone who answered my posts. I will be doing a more ambitious run next time there is a decent sale this year

Could someone please remind me how do I insert an advanced routing code on itamatrix for changing airports? I am looking at a CPH-LHR//LCY-JFK. Thanks.

I am not sure about that assumption? However 70 minutes will be (probably) fine. Domestic flight connection is: Walk off the plane, you are in the departure lounge. Walk to the next gate and get on the next plane.

There's no AA lounge at MCO. BA has a lounge but it's in the wrong terminal.
Thanks for the info Calchas

CE and in total £330 + 30000 Avios. Hotel in AMS is booked using HHonors points too so its not too painful at all.
What is apparent is that no one gets it. I've told a few friends and my girlfriend what I'm doing and why and they think theres something seriously wrong with me

I'm on my BA Gold run journey

ncl-lhr-hel-jfk-phx-hnl-phx-jfk-lhr-hel-man

because of delayed flight lhr-hel(operated by FINNAIR) I miss my final leg hel-man

they offered me connection via LHR to MAN (both flights operated by BA)
but conecion to LHR was delayed more than 50min and I miss connection to MAN(at 20.00)

I have next day plane
generally i will be much more than 5+ on my final destination

my questions

1. Can I gave up final destination and request flight back to NCL where I started TP RUN and Can I request money back because of more than 5 hours delay (I read that BA have like this)?

2. If not I should receive 600Euro compensation via EU law, but where I should go?
my rerouting was by FINNAIR flight but In the end My last connecion was operated by BA

I got a P class DEN LAX JFK return. I don't think they normally do P on the 3 class transcon. I don't think it was a mistake though - think it was just that for a while, they did P on the very early morning flights on certain dates. Paid £500 ish for it and got 540 TPs

I think that was a mistake. Back then some flights were operated by two class metal (at much lower prices) and someone picked the wrong flight numbers allowed on the cheap P fares between NYC and DEN. They were only wrong by one digit or something, I don't remember now. You probably noticed that the prices were substantially less than the J fares on that route.
Yes think you are right and remember seeing that F was much less than J when booking it.

I've dug up the original post (admittedly in reverse DEN-LAX-JFK). Good Deal Premium Fares 2014

F was $441 and J was north of $10,000.

I had this on hold for a while but unfortunately I could not firm up any US travel before it expired.

I also figured out how to link to specific posts in the context of their thread independently of your pagination settings. Hopefully.

You what?

Yes, I think I did post this in the TP Run thread of the time and that it worked in reverse as well.

Those were the days ;-)

Bom-kul-per-syd-kul-bom

Folks,
Possibly not as useful for the masses (eg ex-UK) in this forum, but could be used in combination with LHR-BOM for flights to Australia...
It appears to be for the MH sale / promotion fares and books into Z class.
For some reason on ITA, forcing the routing via PER puts this even cheaper. It only seems to work for a transfer in PER on one of the legs (doesn't seem to matter which way though). With PER added both ways another 300GBP is added.

Sample dates from February at least through to August, with what appears to be no minimum stay.

Only caveat is I have not yet priced it up on an OTA or MH's website.

Total cost 1,132GBP for 700TP's = 1.62GBP/TP
Adding PER both ways - 840TP's at 1,426GBP = 1.69GBP/TP.

Hope it helps someone...I am very tempted to do this run sometime in July. Also note that by that time, the SYD-PER A330 fleet will have a very good chance of the new J class being rolled out too.

Does MH Z class earn on BA?
