Tesco and Avios
Tesco, the major UK supermarket chain, allows you to convert Tesco Clubcard (CC) points to Avios. The standard earning rate is 1 CC point per £1 spent in store. They convert to Avios in the ratio of 1 CC point to 2.4 Avios or 2.5 Virgin miles. Every quarter, your points are converted to coupons and mailed to you - they can then be converted via the CC website to Avios or Virgin miles. Typically, it takes 1-2 working days for a conversion to BA Avios to complete.

The key to rapidly earning large amounts of Avios is the regular bonus point offers where large amounts of points can be earned. The latest are listed below and discussed within this thread.

The last period for collecting Clubcard points finished on 16 October 2014.

The last day for collecting points in the current quarter is 21 January 2015
.

Topcashback (TCB)
A cashback generating site, that provides cashback if you go to a wide range of online retailers via their links. Uniquely amongst such sites, TCB allows up to £50 of cashback per year to be withdrawn to your Tesco Clubcard account, which could then be transferred to 12,000 Avios. As of the middle of May, most cashback can also be transferred directly to your Avios account 1p=1 Avios. http://www.topcashback.co.uk/

It says gift cards don't count towards the totals but unless there is some kind of introductory bonus, my 3V purchases seem to have counted.

No, it says Tesco Gift cards..... "Qualifying spend excludes purchases of Infant milk formulae, tobacco products, fuel, prescription medicines, stamps, saving stamps, lottery, cafe, E-Top-up, money, insurance, Tesco gift cards, Paypoint and purchases from in-store concessions (including, but not limited to, Costa, Harris & Hoole, Giraffe)"

Well this could be a nice little earner if gift card spend counts as well! I've just switched my petrol spend back to Tesco anyway as my constant stream of Shell bonus point offers suddenly stopped 3 or so weeks ago.

E: Not to mention the fact that my Amex 241 earning period reset the past weekend! gift card spend will be useful, as I won't hit the target without a little extra help this year I don't think.

I agree with this. They just don't want you buying cards that they themselves issue. Every other gift card makes them money. I would say however that for someone with an average sized car this offer is limited to £10 a month of actual value. Unless of course your goldfish etc live at other addresses in which case it is more valuable.

I phoned TRC and gave them my clubcard number. They were able to check when the cartridges were processed and how many failed etc. They said they emailed tesco the same day they were processed.

Wondering how this compares with Morrisons Fuel Saver (http://www.morrisonsfuelsaver.co.uk/)

Thinking giftcards, I'm guessing between the extra Tesco Clubcard Points and the Tesco Fuel Saver Vs the Morrisons scheme, there must be a sweet spot somewhere which I'm sure someone will detail.

Let's say you spend £50 on vouchers, and can fit 50 litres in your tank.

Morrisons fuel saving is 5p/l = £2.50
Tesco fuel saving is 2p/l = £1, plus you get 150 CC points.

So Tesco is better provided you spend the CC points wisely.

Agree?

My mistake - I must have just seen "gift card" and assumed it meant them all while I was skim reading it!

No you don't get bonus points (otherwise everyone could just buy them to cover their whole shop!) but you can use them on petrol.

But start to stack those values, and once you hit the 20p/l with Tesco, Morissons continues to no maximum value.

So say you spend £500 on vouchers, with a 50 litre tank.

Morissons - 50p/l = £25
Tesco - 20p/l = £10 and 1500 CC points.

A 60l tank. Morissons £30. Tesco £12 and 1500 CC points
A 80l tank. Morissons £40. Tesco £16 and 1500 CC points
All 100l (using jerry cans for example) Morissons £50. Tesco £20 and 1500 CC points.

You have to consider if you can even spend that amount of gift cards anyway. But any sweet spot would obviously come with the amount of fuel you can manage to leave the petrol station with

Unless you take the fee based visa from Morissons and take as close to 100l every time you 'cash in'

Sure can.

Worth noting, the stupid automatic weight in the bagging area thing can be troublesome with such a light object.
