Sorry, another question. I tried this:
as a way to just have a play, but I get "the value entered is not valid". KARFA - was your comment not to be taken literally and should I modify the string slightly?

This is an example from DUB, but the principle is the same. Just use with CPH and HNL and the routing codes I or Calchas have suggested. I assume you weren't copying in the "outbound:" and "inbound" bits? I have just tried it for next August and it works fine.

So I did this and the cheapest I got was Ł395, which is neither:
Ł1.33/TP | Ł319 | 240TPs | JER-LGW-MLA-LGW-JER | J/R/R/J |
nor
Ł1.96/TP | Ł471 | 240TPs | JER-LGW-MLA-LGW-JER | I/I/I/I |
and the itinerary is J/R/I/J
I am therefore assuming that there is no R class on the MLA to LGW leg, therefore accounting for the Ł76 price increase over the first itinerary, but represents the best price available on these dates whereas the wiki listed itinerary at Ł319 is the best price available in the correct circumstances (flight sale, for example).
Would my assumptions be correct here?

I imagine the I bucket is already full or has been closed on the LGW-MLA sector, and to cover it the Matrix has found you an R- fare over that sector. You will see which fares cover which sectors on the price page.

Your search screen should be like this

Thanks again for your patience.

Sort of. The I bucket is in fact the most tightly constrained and used for the cheapest and most inflexible fares on international routes. The R bucket is less constrained, and R- fares are more expensive but from the UK just as inflexible on shorthaul journeys. One often finds that the cheaper business buckets are not available when one needs them.
I imagine the I bucket is already full or has been closed on the LGW-MLA sector, and to cover it the Matrix has found you an R- fare over that sector. You will see which fares cover which sectors on the price page.

if that's the case, how is that:
Ł1.33/TP | Ł319 | 240TPs | JER-LGW-MLA-LGW-JER | J/R/R/J | (in more expensive classes than I)
but is in fact cheaper than
Ł1.96/TP | Ł471 | 240TPs | JER-LGW-MLA-LGW-JER | I/I/I/I | (all in I)?
(Just when I thought I was getting it

I am a little suspicious about that Ł471 I- fare because international non-economy fares always book into the J bucket on the LGW-JER sector (due to what I believe is a bug). It may have actually been two separate tickets.

I'm looking to go to HNL on a 1500TP run in July if you want to join me?
Routing will be:
CPH-HEL-LHR/LCY-JFK-PHX-HNL Return, about Ł1670.

managed to get a reasonable deal - all booked now
need to go to the states for a new job, and at the same time wanted to get my Silver card back, after much searching, and thanks to the people on the forum for ideas, I have booked the following, the only restriction being, that I need to be in Chicago for the week for training for the new job.
LHR-DUB-LHR--PHL-ORD
ORD-JFK-LHR-DUB-LHR
All in Business apart from the inter US sectors which have come up as first, I may not use the last sector, but got the price at Ł2,300 being that the budget was around Ł2,000 which was the return cost in Economy for a BA flight going out on the Sunday, so moved the flight to a Saturday, total points should be 560, which should bring back to Silver, as I currently have 70

I hate to be the one to say this all ahead full, but that is not a very good TP run. TP runs are generally Ł3/TP or under, so Ł2300 for 560 is over Ł4/TP. Sorry.

Simple question but im confused with 2500 and 3500 TP and what it gets.
2500 says "a voucher that you AND a companion can use towards an upgrade to the next cabin"
So for me that means if 2 of us are in Club class then we can use the voucher to both travel in First (subject to availability of course)
3500 says "we will award you TWO Gold Upgrade for one vouchers which you can use for yourself OR to travel with a companion."
The word OR throws me a little as the above seems to suggest I will get TWO vouchers to upgrade to next class but I have to choose to use them both for myself over 2 flights or use them for myself and companion on ONE flight(which is the same as 2500)
Am i reading it wrong ?

The difference being that a GUF2 is a voucher for 2 people on the same booking, so if you dont have a travel companion, though it can be used on a booking with just 1 pax, you are essentially not gettin full 'value' of it.
the GUF1 is only for 1 pax. So you can use it for 2 trips for just yourself. or one trip with someone else (bit like the GUF2 then).
hope that makes sense?

I realise we need to be travelling together but at 3500 can i use both vouchers to upgrade myself and a companion travelling together which is essentially FOUR upgrades or do i have a simple choice of:
1) Me using 2 vouchers for myself on 2 flights = TWO upgrades total
2) Me using 2 vouchers for myself and a companion on the 1 flight = TWO upgrades total

You can use the GUF2 to upgrade somebody else's flight, even if you're not travelling with them. I did exactly this to upgrade Ms Monkey's recent trip to Hong Kong from CW to F.
