It is unusual, but possibly there was an R- fare sale at the time, or a big shift in the prices on the MLA route intervened between the two options.
I am a little suspicious about that £471 I- fare because international non-economy fares always book into the
J bucket on the LGW-JER sector (due to what I believe is a bug). It may have actually been two separate tickets.
