Frankly, each to their own - all that faux gilt and wood in the EK cabins looks completely ridiculous to me and doesn't appeal on any level. I'll give you enclosed suite aspect, which is a nice feature (although I haven't flown it), but otherwise I feel BA's relatively clean and simple interior designs serve them well.

(Obvioulsy a quick run of a hand-vac over the uphostery wouldn't go amiss from time to time )

I don't disagree. That's the reason I said "an F seat" and not "an F cabin".

I like the understated, refined BA cabin, but the EK A380 is something else.

I did a TR comparing the two (see sig) after flying EK F followed by BA F the following day. I figured it wasn't entirely fair to compare a BA 777 to an EK A380, but now it looks like BA's A380 is going to have nothing special on it, I'm left feeling like they're not bothered about having a truly "premium" experience.

You make a fair point about the seat rather than cabin - like I said, I've never flown EF F (or EK anything for that matter), but hey, when did that ever stop anyone commenting on FT!

(And thanks for pointing me to the TR, which I hadn't seen before and was very interesting).

It may be real but I doubt it is solid gold!

If it's gold plate as is more likely then it may only be a 2000th of a mm thick or even less!

I don't think anyone is suggesting that!

The weight of it alone is good enough reason not to use it, let alone cost!

There will be a 'refreshed' version. Generally looks to be a cosmetic update, but they might have something more up their sleeve whilst maintaining the same/ a similar layout.

I can't wait to see the casino, gym and beauty parlour on the VS A380 fleet but I won't be holding my breath I'm told that the LHR Clubhouse is fantastic and full of fun things to do, and you may enjoy spending hours there. However the lounge is just a place to wait for the main reason for the trip to LHR which is the flight.

Yes they could have done something different initially for the A380 but we don't know that they are going to stay with the same seats for the long haul (pun not intended). Also the public seem to still be flying with BA so it can't be all bad.
I agree with this point entirely. I fly BA because you generally know what you're going to get. They are consistent and in F they all seem to care about the experience. I am also disappointed about F on the A380 and think that they really could have done more and done better. This leads me to believe that they are giving away many F seats instead of selling them at high fares, otherwise they would ahve gone the way of LH and AF.

We have just had communication about how the crewing of the B787 Dreamliner will be done.

It will be operated by WorldWide fleet, with 8 crew:

1 x CSD
1 x Purser
6 x Main Crew

BA are confirming at the moment that crew will be able to hold 4 aircraft licenses during the transition period, so will be able to fly on the 747, 777, 767 and the 787. SEP equipment and procedures are being kept as close to the 777 as possible to assist with the license requirements.

So, crew who wish to work on the new aircraft types are able to register their interest on an internal system, to be put forward for training, which will hopefully start in March 2013, for initial flights in May 2013.

Interesting times.

It has not been detailed in our communication, although I would imagine there would have to be something similar to that for the A380.

Out of interest and looking to the future, will there be exactly 8 CAS or will there be more?
