I've been offered a new job starting in the summer, which will replace my current one that I can't stand. And will take me home to boot! Although it does mean I'll be picking up fewer miles...
And this thread finally encouraged me to stop lurking and start posting!

Darling Bear Consorter - this thread alone makes me feel good. I have had a lovely PM from a perfect stranger and I am well unlike so many others. I have a husband that I adore and friends that I cherish.
It is also time for a Bombay & Slim. Aren't we lucky to have each other?
For you alone a big XXXXXX

In May I am getting married at the poshest country club in Ireland to a woman who not only understands and appreciates the concept of mileage/tier point running, but permitted me to start one in CAI during riot season to nail the 280K accelerator bonus, and who furthermore made very little fuss when I passed gass in a most boisterous fashon moments ago on the sofa.
Oh, and the Avois from said run are being employe for return F on BA for the honeymoon!
Warm glow all around!

The good news - IT'S RAINING!!!!!! OK, it may not be much to you Brits but when your reservoir has been near 50ft below normal, it's darn good news. On the current projections Lake Travis isn't going to make it up to the point where I can get the dinghy out this Summer so I'll be towing it to one of the Lakes in the next river basin, but it's a step forwards.
Meantime, our season is about inverted from HIDDY's - we have most of the beans etc. in the ground, and the tomato plants waiting on the final piece of the construction project that is the backyard. Raspberries are sprouting, and the demented mange tout (snow peas) have yielded about 5 pounds over the last two weeks - it's completely the wrong time of year but what the heck, we'll take them. Oh, and we'll likely get our first ever broad (fava) beans in the next couple of weeks.
So rain is a good thing after all.

Dear bernardd, we have crossed swords in the past. However, I'm delighted to see you here, and even more pleased that the skies are pi55ing on you!
Our reservoirs here were getting a bit desperate too ... we only have a 45 sq mile catchment area, but fortunately last month was a bit wet. We shall survive.
Rain is good [at the appropriate time].
